Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

New video up, all the amazing wildlife @gregannandale.com has caught on his incredibly well placed trail camera. The wetlands in Warleigh Nature Reserve are hosting a whole load of life and more will flock here as the heatwave continues. youtu.be/F-g80SRS_Ek?...

I made an animation which shows the effects of air pollution on pedestrians waiting to cross the road, along with what can be done to reduce its harmful effects: stepback.gregdev.com Thank you to @ianwalker.bsky.social for the inspiration for doing so during a conversation a couple of weeks' back!

'Step back' - air pollution at pedestrian crossings
Every busy road produces a cloud of pollution you can't see. Where you stand in it matters more than most people might realise.

The room smells faintly of soot (chimney clearly needs sweeping) but hot air can all go out the same tube, right? 🤔
A portable air conditioner in the foreground, with its ducting pipe fed into the chimney via an (unlit) wood-burning stove

‘We’re not out to get anyone – we just want to slow you down’: why do lollipop people face so much road rage?
They just want to help children safely across the road on their way to and from school. Yet lollipop people are having to wear body cameras after an increase in abusive and dangerous drivers. How did ...

A single line in this piece just made my day: “The electricity system operator is understood to be preparing to run the grid without any gas for short periods as soon as this summer, in a first for the UK energy system.” Renewables *work*. And progress matters🎉 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Lower Thames Crossing will destroy 0.32 hectares of ancient woodland per km, which is 3x the 0.09 hectares of ancient woodland directly impacted per km for HS2. Then there’s the emissions for construction and usage. Both wildly different. Can we please get mad about the right projects.

🚨 BATH: Lidl are once again trying to trash a wildflower meadow in Bath. There’s beavers living there, and this land should be protected and enhanced not tarmaced (which will obviously make the flooding worse.) Please object asap and donate to legal transitionlarkhall.wordpress.com/save-baths-w...

Still battling through completion of the Warleigh / Bath land acquisition, and some more land has come up for sale nearby that 1) needs restoration, 2) would solve a lot of logistical issues with the first. Gonna need ~£100k. Who’s up for a challenge? www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/reforestat...

Please allow me to re-share my rough sketch of some advanced carbon capture technology
a cartoon with two panels

panel one is a stick figure saying "oh! a fossil fuel!!" standing above a crudely drawn black lump under a brown ground

Panel two is them walking away and saying "I'll just leave it there"

The head of the person is not a drawn circle but the letter O, because the random software I used to draw it did that for unexplained reasons
