For someone new I’d say watching the show first is best. They changed the plot for the first two seasons with adaptation / COVID shutdowns causing problems in the middle of filming the second half of season 1. Maybe watch it before you read book 4 if you decide to keep going. It’s a flicker 😉

Eliza of the gray ajah @graysister.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

No doubt the books are flawed but the amount of foreshadowing is >epic< & the youth of the characters and generation of the author contribute to some of the things we find lacking nowadays. You have to have patience with the pace of this series to enjoy it, otherwise use recaps. You watch the show?

Not sure about a transcript but the graphs are all there on screen share during the video so you could probably just mute it and skip around to see the visuals and article quotes but here’s the one I find interesting and tracks with the fact that many of us love the female character arcs most.

Bar graph showing the gender viewpoint of all 14 main Wheel of Time books with a general distribution showing more female than male points of view in most books after the 4th installment.

I’ll also say this channel is much more coherent nowadays and his overview summary of the entire series is entertaining if you choose to stop after book three and get the recap there. It is over 11 hours but that’s way less than the books 🤪

There is an argument for not continuing if you don’t like the writing style but there are statistics about the POV that prove that wrong. The original B&N article seems to be taken down but you can get the gist from about 5.5 minutes into this recap of it youtu.be/XbSdP268tro?...

It’s all a lot of clickbait. The actual interview he didn’t say much on the topic that we hadn’t already heard. These headlines make it sensational 🙄

010

Eliza of the gray ajah @graysister.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Also which characters you love or hate often depend on your age. There are plenty of POVs for everyone and the female perspectives increase significantly later on in the series. Character growth will change your opinions on people as you progress. Read books 1-3 and then decide to continue or not.

The working title for this song was Two Rivers Sheep, but then had to tone the chorus craziness down a bit as the verses became sentimental. Also happy to share some great European music with y'all. #wotidol #wotskies youtu.be/L9VqHz7VC-A

Have you read all the Pern books? Follows different characters in most sets of books but lots of crossover and the overall story is amazing. Had teenage me and my mom in tears at times later in the story - they are definitely more than a snack as a whole

So this photo contains zero birds, but in my defence, we were sitting outside waiting for birds. But the sun was almost setting and the backlit Snapdragons stole the show!

A backlit snapdragon flower that is partially opened. The background is dark green with a round sun like highlight in the top right corner. It’s actually an out of focus highlight that appears large because it’s a telephoto lens. The pink snapdragon flower is rim lit but has some light bouncing back to light the flower.
For those interested, the lens is a 400mm and required 5 frames focused on slightly different parts of the flower to be stacked together so the entire flower was sharp .

Do you enjoy audiobooks? That can impact recommendations when a narrator is good or not. I think if I had tried DCC on anything but via audio I might have abandoned it too. Check out Remarkably Bright Creatures or Piranesi for standalone novels. Dragonriders of Pern & Stormlight are favorites for me

A spray of purple flowers in front of a rosy glow of light with a small rainbow going across it. Plus a bunch of silhouetted flowers and buds. Or maybe they’re shadows? It’s all rather abstract but beautiful.
