The computer tells me two hours until an NRO launch using the FalconH. But, family called about a malfunction with their water - well supplied without any manual interrupt to irrigation. :/ Better go to sleep rather than watch another goofy spy bird.

'We're offering a new, more capable drop-in replacement for our years-long standard motor starters. So the machine's footprint will be just a couple centimeters different in the x and y-axis.' 😒
Replacing an ATS22 motor soft-starter with a brand new ATS490.

Someone previously determined the old unit, the Altistart 22 not pictured here was broken and I did not verify this claim. Just proceeded with the installation of our first Altivar ATS490.

I did not complete this task before other things broke elsewhere. 😩Replacing an ATS22 motor soft-starter with a brand new ATS490.

Sill tassel shown charged with static electricity and so fanned out, the "discharged by the rays from radium," with all silk strands hanging straight down.

Moderate to powerful alpha emitting sources are still used to mitigate problematic static electricity buildup in various industrial processes.

A simple, commonly encountered one may be Polonium-210 strips inside the hood of a laboratory scale to prevent static cling of powders being measured to weighing instruments.

Someone might have found an unusually novel orphan source here in the states and shared it over on another site. Good advice all ready from professionals on how to proceed. :) I hope we get to learn later if it was actually an orphan source or simply a poorly neglected pig. :D

Jeez. I made a last minute grocery store trip for work lunches and an older man, dressed like an Italian mobster from the movies started yelling at the young woman bagging his groceries. Cursing at her, berating the cashier too before physically stepping up to her, inches away and a solid 12" taller

As a legitimate 'greymuzzle' (middle-aged+ furry who has been in the community a long time) take it from me: furry hate/phobia is always, without fail, simply a vehicle for homophobia and/or transphobia. Tommy is very clearly attempting to use it here as another angle against trans people.

So, we have completed our obligatory National anthem, playing as skydivers dropped in towing American flags. Ended with an AC/DC track, Thunderstruck, and fade into an ad encouraging folks to speak with your local recruiter today about joining "our elite fighting forces!"

After work today we went to check on a four year old Boston who was in the local animal shelter. Fortunately he was adopted and walked out the door just an hour before we arrived. Walked through the whole place though, I'm glad it's a service our county provides but the necessity is very sad. 😢

I'd say odds are if we had put eyes on him he would have come home with us.

The important thing is he has heartworm treatments underway and a home to go to. 😊A dog waiting for adoption.A friendly cat, part of an outdoor colony at the animal shelter.

I am on emergency calls this weekend but hoping it stays quiet. I have a few little projects I've let languish too long. Need to mate that LaBr(Ce) crystal and try some spectroscopy with it. Also, have parts to build 2-3 solar mesh nodes. Aim to more reliably send messages to a pal across town. 😄

The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the few programs to successfully breed Texas horned lizards (Phrynosoma cornutum) in captivity, with the first zoo-reared group hatched in 2005. They've been so successful, they've been able to release them back into the wild to bolster declining wild populations.

The whole zoo crew pictured out back not too long ago. :) Dogs, cats and some variety of other companion animals are one of the great treats in life. I find myself wishing them all more longevity but their time here as pals, however short, is good enough. 😌
This was the whole dog crew just a few months ago.

Cole/Roscoe the Labrador who stayed here because a relative who got him as a puppy was not home from work often enough to look after him.

And of course the Bostons - one being Titan, a rescue my Mom found listed for free at four years old in a local paper along the WV/VA border and then little Olive who we picked up after a two year waiting list from a family in North Florida.

Sadly, at ~13 years old just a few months ago Cole/Roscoe the black lab died in his sleep at the foot of my bed overnight. No apparent illness or unusual distress preceded his passing.

He was panting a bit that night as he did when his hip pain was acting up but it was nothing that seemed concerning.
He was a good dog and the only one I've ever lived with who went without calling a vet in for euthanasia. :/

I'm not sure if that's better or worse but I'm glad I got to enjoy a few years of time with him considering his official owners seemed indifferent to his presence. :)
