Ideally you'd keep any submerged motors totally sealed but in practice they'll run for years after water has replaced most of the coolant oil. 😬

I'm hoping the restoration of services following the hurricane is proceeding well. I haven't received any phone calls about joining the utilities crews there yet but I am on duty all ready here and half expect I should get a bag packed before Monday morning arrives.

Last thing I had to do tonight, everyone else all ready has - take a shower. Somehow a tiny little gecko came out of the recently used spout. I tracked it down and managed to scoop it up before the dogs - it's outside now but I've no idea if it should be. That was some trick and no ID was made. :/

The computer tells me two hours until an NRO launch using the FalconH. But, family called about a malfunction with their water - well supplied without any manual interrupt to irrigation. :/ Better go to sleep rather than watch another goofy spy bird.

'We're offering a new, more capable drop-in replacement for our years-long standard motor starters. So the machine's footprint will be just a couple centimeters different in the x and y-axis.' 😒
Replacing an ATS22 motor soft-starter with a brand new ATS490.

Someone previously determined the old unit, the Altistart 22 not pictured here was broken and I did not verify this claim. Just proceeded with the installation of our first Altivar ATS490.

I did not complete this task before other things broke elsewhere. 😩Replacing an ATS22 motor soft-starter with a brand new ATS490.

Sill tassel shown charged with static electricity and so fanned out, the "discharged by the rays from radium," with all silk strands hanging straight down.

Moderate to powerful alpha emitting sources are still used to mitigate problematic static electricity buildup in various industrial processes.

A simple, commonly encountered one may be Polonium-210 strips inside the hood of a laboratory scale to prevent static cling of powders being measured to weighing instruments.

Hopefully nothing but I see others pointrd out the kabel all ready. What a surprise something like that must be to find, and then figuring out who the right people are to call so it doesn't turn into a local emergency response circus. :/

Me too, looking forward to it. Generally with rad stuff of a certain vintage it's just a failure to deface warnings on containers. But, you never know until it's checked and people who respond to these troublesome novelties are aware. :D So, fingers crossed for a satisfyingly detailed update. :)

That thing, if present inside, would definitely swing needles using any neutron detector I've found or cobbled over the last years. :D Schemes with poor gamma rejection would still need proper "tuning" of one sort or another. Anything marked in whole curies is a bit spooky. 😶

Honestly, yes. hehe — Very different industry but we try to make sure all our people have label makers, purpose printed tags and a variety of markers. And yet, I still feel lucky if some stray, pulled equipment has so much as a one word sharpie mark on it. 😩

Someone might have found an unusually novel orphan source here in the states and shared it over on another site. Good advice all ready from professionals on how to proceed. :) I hope we get to learn later if it was actually an orphan source or simply a poorly neglected pig. :D
