Today was our final post-ex day, where we explored #osteoarchaeology. We took a deep dive into the excavation of the early med. Bowl Hole cemetery, which sits just outside the castle. This pm we were then joined by osteo, Giselle Kiraly, who taught us the basics of osteoarch. A fascinating day!

Not sure what the hashtag will be, but come see me at ICMS!!!! @kzooicms.bsky.social I will be talking about the #medieval well we just found at Bamburgh Castle!
Screencap of ICMS schedule.
“Well, Well, Well: Finding the Third Medieval Well of Bamburgh Castle. Saturday, May 10, 2025
Sangren Hall 4520
Will be held in person.

This paper is a project update regarding the search for a medieval well at Bamburgh Castle in northern England by the Bamburgh Research Project, a nonprofit archaeological field school. The well was discovered in the summer of 2024, and it proved to be unlike the other medieval wells on-site.”
