I'm 100% like Elizabeth and although I always think "should I check this spam to see if it is a legit submission invite?", I also have enough low self-esteem to assume nobody would ever invite me (which is great in this case somehow?)

I have the impression that this is terribly seen by Quebec as a whole, though. Everyday in the news there is some discussion about how Quebec French is dying because kids these days are code-switching more and more (and because of immigrants of course 🙄).

Pesquisa aberta é matéria-prima gratuita pra IA generativa comercial? Quem se beneficia da abertura? Dia 2 de junho 14h BRT debato esse uso extrativista com Jennifer Zerkee e Monica Granados no painel "Extractive uses of openness and commercial generative AI". 🔗 sfu.zoom.us/meeting/regi...
No topo, o título principal diz: "EXTRACTIVE USES OF OPENNESS AND COMMERCIAL GENERATIVE AI", com o subtítulo: "VIRTUAL PANEL DISCUSSION: EXAMINING POWER IMBALANCES AND UNRECIPROCATED REUSE".

I actually know a bunch of Brazilians in Canada who do exactly that. The headache of going through immigration processes make them excellent immigration consultants. I was told several times that I should become one too. I would certainly not be living on a basement now if I took that advice. 😂😭

More context on this #Artemis II image: * This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right * The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon: ☀️🌍🚀🌕
A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)

The Stockholm archipelago in Sweden is lit up in a golden bath of sunlight, with a mysterious mist hanging low in front of the silhouetted island. The water shimmers like a glowing, rippling mirror. The use of archipelago photography in PKP's newsletter represents the distributed yet connected nature of free and open source software as well as open access communities. I'm reviewing a PhD candidate's comprehensive exam manuscript for tomorrow (I'm late! I know!) and 1. I can't believe people delegate that to LLMs nowadays - it's so much fun! 2. It feels outdated to ask students to go through qualifying exams and hand over a PDF for evaluation in 2026.
