dragon lady next to me at the second life rave was too close and her wings kept clipping through my player model. Some of my favourite art from 2024!

The Ghost Buckeye (Junonia prosopon), descended from a species driven extinct by habitat loss, evolved to ward off humans.
When spotted, they display the uncanny face-like patterns on their wings. This image has inspired folklore stories, marking whole areas of forest as haunted.

Bloodbark trees are prized for their exotic red wood. Also called Murder Trees, they produce large volumes of sap that imitates blood.
Those who strike it become convinced they are killing a person. This is thought to be an adaptation that helps Bloodbarks survive in a deforested world.

Cuscuta haemotrophica, commonly known as leechweed, is the only parasitic plant known to target animals.
The vine digs under the skin to consume the host's blood, making photosynthesis unnecessary.
Infestation in humans rarely progresses to the blooming stage, when it can become life-threatening.

The oldest known instance of the "Cool S", a symbol of unknown origin, on a tenth century Viking runestone.
This sigil has persisted through millennia and is still found today. Scholars believe its origin is unrelated to the letter S, and that it was originally part of a ritual.

I've been tracking this... thing for years now. I first saw it four years ago when I set up a trail cam outside. Since then, my life has become a nightmare. Whatever this creature is keeps trying to get into my house, every damn year. In this thread I'll present all my evidence.

FUCK, I was so close. I put a bear trap under the tree to capture the thing that's been getting into my house every year. I caught it, but it escaped somehow. Tore straight through steel. It's hurt now, and angry...

A rusty bear trap, covered in blood. The metal has been completely torn as something escaped it. There are pieces of white fur around it and a bloody footprint nearby.

Grocery store parking lot at 2:12 am

A snowy parking lot at night. An abstract, fleshy, meaty thing is draped over a rusty, bloody shopping cart. The shopping cart melts into the creature through long ribbons of flesh to the point where the cart might actually be an extension of the creature. Its head is an oval on a long neck, like a sperm. Its only feature is a hole, making its face appear like a sucker.
