A lot of constructive criticism of trans reporting that leans too much into fear has been coopted by certain liberals who have decided that encouraging trans people to pressure liberal politicians, hospitals, and so on is somehow fearmongering. Denial of reality is more dangerous than exaggeration.

What a surprise, the organizers of the covid cautious dyke bar hated the article, rejected its framing, and is defending their covid cautious patrons and performers. Anyone who joined in on the viral harassment campaign started by Jesse Singal wanna say oops or…? recorder.com/2026/09/24/g...
Current and former owners of Last Ditch could not be reached by phone, email or social media. However, Last Ditch did share on Instagram that the Globe story allegedly misconstrued statements from Noire, and urged community members to stop harassing Noire.
"It is neither productive, progressive, nor valiant to attack a Black patron. He has been a collaborator and performer of Last Ditch for a while, and he deserves to speak his mind about accountability and repair from the bar," the Last Ditch statement reads. "There are so many misconceptions due to the disorganization of the Globe article. He did not call for the bar to be firebombed. Further, he did not disparage the owner for being homeless.
"As a result of this abysmal journalism, he has been getting additional threats, slurs, harassment, and is being reported to the police over something he did not do," Last Ditch continued. "This is not supporting us at Last Ditch, and it is, at its core, anti-Blackness hysteria."

leftism that clings to the Battle of Blair Mountain (1921) more than the Battle of Minneapolis (2026) is leftism that is more concerned with aesthetics than historical consequences.

As @segyges.bsky.social notes, here’s famed rationalist and AI doomer Eliezer Yudkowsky - who’s advising @sanders.senate.gov on AI and who is in a recent Netflix documentary - claiming that AI extinction risk is SO bad that it’s worth risking nuclear war. Which is *nuts*. time.com/6266923/ai-e...

Frame nothing as a conflict between national interests, have it

clear that anyone talking of arms races is a fool. That we all live

or die as one, in this, is not a policy but a fact of nature. Make

it explicit in international diplomacy that preventing Al

extinction scenarios is considered a priority above preventing

a full nuclear exchange, and that allied nuclear countries are

willing to run some risk of nuclear exchange if that's what it

takes to reduce the risk of large Al training runs.

the even better question is "why are dems vocally flipping on trans people NOW" when now is likely to be a crazy blue wave year the even more damning answer is not just "bc they are transphobic" but "bc they are trying to create permission to be transphobic indefinitely"

I know it's futile to keep having this argument but I just want some honesty about what "he needs to win in Texas" means. It means anti-trans pledges will win more votes than they lose. And if you're comfortable with that then you should be comfortable with the idea that he will lose *some* votes.

i think that only supports trans peoples argument in the 00s & 10s, we were moving TOWARDS gay marriage and gay rights in the 20s, we are actively moving AWAY from trans rights as a country. trans people are losing rights we had 5, 10 years ago. so if ur point is that dems follow political winds...

If these dems are allowed to win and take power, the Democratic Party WILL get worse on this issue. So much worse. Yes, not as bad as Republicans, but we will lose the ability to right the ship when Dems win, because they will work like a ratchet... rights only lost, then paused.

What cis liberals need to understand about our political situation is that the Democrats turning on us is far, far worse than the Republicans winning, because if we lose the Democrats like we lost Labour in UK, we will have our rights stripped and no path to getting them back.

‼️Statement RE my suspension from the Greens. I was suspended for the 'crime' of being a trans woman who ran for a women's place. The "media interest" in my gender was cited as the sole reason for my suspension.
I can confirm that I have indeed been suspended from the Green Party. The only reason given for my immediate suspension is that I allegedly ‘brought the party into disrepute’ by choosing to run for a reserved female space on Green Party Council as a trans woman. In the Greens, suspensions are not a guilty verdict. I was not found guilty of breaking any rules whatsoever. The only actual disciplinary allegations against me are that I allegedly was rude to people on the internet, and that I ‘gossiped’. I was not suspended for any of this.

The only reason given for my IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION was: "EF’s recent election to GPC and the accompanying media interest”. I was suspended just 8 days after being elected, in a secret group chat discussion which included just 13 of the 36 members of GPC. My critics submitted 100 pages of transphobic articles as ‘evidence’, while I was banned from submitting anything in my defence and was not allowed to see the charges. There was no investigation.Because I have not been found guilty of any disciplinary offences whatsoever, the only ‘appeal’ process for suspension involves asking Green Party Council to reverse their decision. This is something I have to do, so please do not email or harass any Council members. That is not going to help anybody, and I strongly discourage anyone from contacting GPC members individually. I do not want you to do that.

Suspension decisions can be reversed if GPC considers that there are ‘mitigating’ circumstances. This can include representations from other party members, submitted as part of the official process.

I have therefore set up an online form where fellow Green members can submit statements expressing support for me and defending me. Please put your name and local party so it is accepted by GPC.

It is my hope that with enough attention and support, GPC will hold a full meeting with a large turnout of all GPC members (rather than a small minority) that will overturn my suspension swiftly.

A basic fact about how the right operates is that they take attacks on women's rights, trans people, immigrants and racialized people etc. deathly seriously, while many liberals and even many leftists dismiss them as 'distractions' or 'culture issues'. Often due to tacit agreement.
