Distinct Arp2/3 isocomplexes drive axonal actin ring assembly and integrity
The actin-related protein 2/3 (Arp2/3) complex is a central nucleator of branched actin filaments, essential for numerous cellular processes. Using superresolution imaging, we demonstrate that Arp2/3 ...

Very interesting how we describe that cell cortex in myofibers is involved in tubules formation in muscle cells, with implication for centronuclear myopathies and other triadopathies. Happy to lead this work with @raquel-pereira.bsky.social @drmichaelway.bsky.social and other co authors.

A specialised actin network restrains the growth of T-tubules, the membrane system that lets muscle fibres contract in sync, offering new clues into disorders like muscular dystrophy. 📄 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

The actomyosin cortex controls t-tubule remodeling in skeletal muscle
A network of plasma membrane invaginations called t-tubules plays an essential role in controlling calcium release from the endoplasmic reticulum at the triads during muscle contraction. Although the ...

🔬🚀 Out now in Communications AI & Computing: mAIcrobe, our open-source napari plugin for high-throughput bacterial image analysis. Segmentation, morphological profiling and cell cycle classification, all in one place 👇 doi.org/10.1038/s44488-026-00022-y
Screenshot of the published article page. Software, Open access, published 15 September 2026. Title: mAIcrobe, an open-source framework for high-throughput bacterial image analysis. Authors: António D. Brito, Dominik Alwardt, Beatriz de P. Mariz, Sérgio R. Filipe, Mariana G. Pinho, Bruno M. Saraiva and Ricardo Henriques. Communications AI & Computing 1, article number 16 (2026), followed by the abstract.Diagram of the mAIcrobe workflow. Acquisition feeds into segmentation with StarDist, Cellpose and community models, then into morphological profiling and a three-class cell cycle classifier, ending in a feature-space scatter plot with three separated clusters.
