The killer feature of PWAs is not that they update automatically or they’re cross-platform. The absolute killer feature of PWAs is that they can be freely distributed without any app store dependency No risk that one party can kill your distribution and end your business. That’s a killer feature.

You might think I'm crazy, but yesterday I worked on my website, and I was in the zone for hours, like the good old days. It was just me, a mechanical keyboard, a nice VSCode theme paired with a good font, good music in my headphones, some coffee, and my brain. Let's all slow down a bit.

So are we all just having a million things to review each day while our own agents produce code at the same time that we then gift as PRs to our coworkers for them to review? Have we traded the craft of engineering away for this sisyphean chore? Is this it?

It was hard enough to get humans to write code that was legible/understandable by humans. "But it doesn't matter, Kyle! Get over it!" Tell that to my queue of PRs to review. You'd think we'd be able to make the simplest code now easily, and it's just getting worse.

No matter how many instructions or skills I give Claude, it cannot seem to figure out how to test what matters, and instead constantly tests implementation details. It's almost like it was trained on a bunch of data with tests that checked unimportant implementation details.

This is essentially the entire AI bubble: "If it were opt-in, nobody would opt-in." The tech industry is deeply unhealthy when this is accepted as normal, and clearly these people feel no shame about it. Let's push back and show them the cost of being this anti-consumer.

the focus on whether you read the code or not is the wrong thing to look at if you have software you're responsible for, you should be able to answer questions from memory about how it works the expectations for how well you can do this should not be any different now

When you scroll a 2D scroller on the web, the browser may ignore some minor scroll deltas in the non-main scrolling axis when the user’s intent was to scroll only one axis. Sometimes this “railing” gets in the way … and with `scroll-axis-lock: none`, you can soon remove it 😊 brm.us/scroll-axis-...

If AI really makes developers anywhere near 10x more productive, the notable absence of any significant new or improved products would suggest maybe developers have never been as singularly important to the process of making ideas successful as developers have enjoyed the privilege of believing.

This is the worst part. It's so much work to review slop PRs because a) there are many more of them, b) they're rarely crafted with reviewers in mind, and c) you have to verify every single part of them. You can't trust any of it, even if you (formerly) trusted the person behind the username.
