I have a rough calculation of cost that aggregates in each Claude session as I go. Yesterday, brand new session, asked Claude to rebase a branch on main and fix the one simple conflict. Cost over $2 and 10 minutes to do something I could have done myself in a ~1min. What are we doing?!

It’s shocking how quickly LLMs will reach for Proxies as a solution to something. I just spent 2 hrs grilling Claude on why they solved a problem with proxies, just to realize their ~100 LOC solution could be replaced entirely with a 3 line function. Ffs.

I'm really struggling with one aspect of PR review in this era. LLMs seem to avoid making abstractions, even when they're easy and obvious. I feel like we're losing modules. But I just keep asking, "Does it matter?" I think it does, but it doesn't feel like a battle I can win.

No matter how many instructions or skills I give Claude, it cannot seem to figure out how to test what matters, and instead constantly tests implementation details. It's almost like it was trained on a bunch of data with tests that checked unimportant implementation details.
