What do you think piping the most expensive fossil fuel - extracted by the most expensive means - then sending it through an enormous, absurdly expensive pipeline is going to do to your energy bill? The folks spruiking this shit pretend to be serious, but come the fuck on. Bloody rent-seekers. 🙄

This is what consistently eroding Australia's core climate science capability gives us. There is a lot that is unknown and unknowable about the future under catastrophic climate change, but we would be in a far stronger position if we stopped giving tasks like this to the intern.

A global threat for millennia: experts warn Australia’s nuclear submarine legacy will be weapons-usable uranium cache
Exclusive: Uranium waste from Aukus submarines will be enriched to an estimated 80%: the same level as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima Australia’s proposed nuclear submarine fleet will leave behind tonnes of weapons-usable uranium-235: radioactive for hundreds of millions of years, and capable of being processed into scores of warheads, nuclear experts have told a public inquiry into Aukus. And a former White House national security adviser has told the Guardian that Australia’s Aukus deal – involving the transfer of highly enriched uranium to a non-nuclear weapons nation – sets a dangerous proliferation precedent that other countries such as Iran could try to exploit, weakening global control of the spread of weapons-usable nuclear material. Congrats to Julie K. Brown! She was awarded a #Pulitzer Prize special citation today for her groundbreaking reporting in 2017 & 2018 for the Miami Herald exposing Jeffrey Epstein's systematic abuse of young women and the justice system & powerful network of associates that protected him for years.
A powerful narrative portrait of Julie K. Brown, the Miami Herald investigative journalist celebrated for her "Perversion of Justice" series, which exposed the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and led to her 2026 Pulitzer Prize special citation. Brown sits in the heart of a newsroom, leaning forward with her hands clasped over the back of a vibrant lime-green chair. Her expression is steady and resolute, a faint, knowing smile playing on her lips. She has shoulder-length, strawberry-blonde hair and wears a crisp, white short-sleeved linen top. Her look is punctuated by bold, artistic accessories: a long necklace featuring large, multi-colored geometric beads and matching statement earrings. The background is filled with the tools of her trade: Dell computer monitors and large wall-mounted screens displaying blurred news segments, including one featuring her own likeness. The composition is balanced and centered, capturing a mood of quiet authority and tireless determination. This image stands as a tribute to Brown’s historical significance in journalism, marking her as a champion for victims whose reporting forced a global reckoning on power and systemic failure.

The Gas industry now saying a 25% export tax would "stop investment in new gas supply, leading to gas shortfalls" Bullshit. Utter bullshit. 83% of Australia's gas is exported. THERE IS NO SHORTAGE
But the gas industry’s peak representative body, Australian Energy Producers, said a 25% levy against its exports would come at the “worst possible time for Australia’s economy and energy security”.

“Imposing higher taxes on Australian gas producers would stop investment in new gas supply, leading to gas shortfalls, higher energy prices, and the closure of Australian industries that rely on reliable and affordable gas,” AEP’s chief executive officer, Samantha McCulloch, said.Chart showing

in 2023-24 9,951PJ of gas was exported or used in LNG plants to convert gas to LNG
