America today is a country where regulators won't allow private companies to air interviews of the opposition on TV, but declare that taxpayer funded propaganda is fine.

Hey you, Europe, You know how we started a war without telling you, failed badly, and hurt all our economies? No, after we tariffed you, lectured you that Russia isn’t a threat, and demanded territory. Okay. So. Weaken yourself to rescue us or we’ll hurt our own economy more and you’ll be sorry.

Do we seriously have to do Maoist newspeak every single time an 80 year old posts his idiotic ideas on the internet. It has been AI since before I was even born. Can literally anyone have a shred of dignity.

Camden County sends stickers as well, but they come later, presumably as confirmation that they received your completed ballot. We just got ours today.

I also think part of the issue is that people who still regularly use X are just exposed to that much more AI content. Some users haven’t learned skepticism because it’s part of the background noise of their daily experience on the platform. Many happily share obvious AI political ads too!

But when tens or hundreds of thousands of people follow you online specifically for your expertise, you have a duty to ask yourself if the source you’re sharing from is credible. If in doubt, it’s so easy to simply choose not to share it so you don’t contribute to the problem.

I’m not gonna pretend I’m completely immune here. I was fooled by a Reddit post claiming to show a screenshot of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry on the same episode of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. No such episode exists. It was a reminder that AI content is designed to tug at our emotions for engagement.

I admit I still have an active X account (locked, wiped, and only really used for verifying certain tweets), and it is alarming to see people with reputations to maintain — elected officials, commentators, etc. — casually retweeting AI-generated content without realizing it’s AI.

i cannot say i really understand the derisive commentary about the Kennedy center protests. much of the negative reaction is “why aren’t libs protesting ICE or detention centers?” when there’s been constant, ongoing protests from liberals on these issues in DC and elsewhere for two years

When Gloria Steinem co-founded Ms. Magazine in 1972, the honorific “Ms.” was virtually unheard of. Unmarried women were referred to as “Miss [father’s last name]” and married women as “Mrs. [husband’s last name].” “Ms.” was an assertion of individual identity. Women who used it were widely mocked.

Yes, and a fear of mine is that if we see massive numbers of provisional ballots cast (which are counted last), the admin will attempt to discredit those as well, regardless of the fact that they’d have to be cast in person.

It’s a popular revolt against the tech oligarchs, not about data centers per se. Yes, streaming sites also use data centers. Yes, data centers don’t actually use up a lot of drinking water. Accuracy is good for its own sake. But still, right or wrong about data centers themselves isn’t the point.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,
