The recommendation in CVT’s book to follow a certain can’t-cook, no nutrition grifter if you’re financially strapped was all I needed to know 🤔

Delicious, thank you. I’ll give this a go, sizing it up for the biggest ikea roasting tin, so loads, cos lasagne effort deserves leftovers. I have a problem with sausage meatballs being solid, so now do half sausage half sosmix which lightens the texture but gives my inner 80s veggie conniptions.

Eight quid? Blimey. Unsure how much at our local. Not much but they used to do two for the price and now it’s one. A good spoon’s dollop of peas. Not a whiff of an oyster or mussel (just a good takeaway in Ramsbottom). Eating a big bowl of fruit whilst writing this and it’s not. the. same.

Same in the NW (three types of curry and a cheeky pea fritter) . Maybe your chippy people moved up the east coast.

Always wallies when I was a kid (70s/80s in Suffolk), when my holiday order was fishcakechipsandawally. Don’t hear it in the NW and chippies don’t always have them here.

Travelled for this last year. Fed up I’m missing it this time as I’m taking mum to Cromer to watch her eat crab and lose my inheritance on the penny falls. It’ll be great, BSE’s lovely, and you know it’s in great hands with Nic.

I've organised what I think is a great programme of food-related events for this year's @burylitfest.bsky.social. We have a special offer running on tickets right now and I'd so love you to attend. www.burylitfest.co.uk/food-programme
The festival logo (a fountain pen nib) and text that says "this year sees the launch of the festival's first dedicated food programme, curated by local food writer Nic Miller. The programme celebrates Bury St Edmunds' growing reputation as the food capital of East Anglia, piring the town's literary identity with its culinary culture and bringing some of the most exciting voices in food writing to town. Don't miss your chance to be part of this delicious new chapter."

Feel better soon. Daughter and her partner had this last week. V odd, dizzy, nauseous yet hungry. Covid tests negative. Better now but it took them a couple of days. I messaged to check they had a carbon monoxide monitor, it was that odd (they did).

That’s a chunk of late 70s income. Was v envious of friends who had a sodastream. Working out the maths from this ad I can see why it was well into the 80s before our family telly had a remote, and we bought our Christmas pop from Gateway (finally treated myself in lockdown and felt I had arrived).

This is the way
Facebook post sharing a poster but up by Thomas House of Dublin.

Poster has AI encircled in red with a line through it, and the Thomas House logo.

Text reads
So for the future (literally) we're not accepting AI posters or flyers for the pub.

We're right next to Ireland's biggest art college lads; it's not a good look.

We understand bands can be skint but relying on some earth killing app from some paedo island billionaires is not the way. We got by without it and we'll get by again.

If you're stuck we'll help.

Thanks, Humans.

I haven’t had a runny jar, and we get through one every few weeks. However, seeing as it’s now the other side of £3 for a standard jar, our next one is Aldi’s for £2.19. I know it’ll be different, but I hope it’s okay-different. I don’t mind Vegemite so reckon I’ll live.
