🧵 Since I announced that I was standing to become Deputy Leader of the Green Party, I have been subjected to a sustained series of allegations, complaints, leaks and personal attacks. Some have been explicitly racist and Islamophobic.

It didn't stop when I was elected.
I have tried not to respond to every allegation. I've tried to be patient, trust the proper processes and let the evidence speak for itself.
But there comes a point when you have to look at the pattern.
In early August, allegations were made about the Special Responsibility Allowance allocated to me by the Leeds Green Group.
The Head of Democratic Services looked at it. The Office of the City Solicitor looked at it. Both confirmed that the Green Group had acted properly.
The allegations continued.
Now Leeds City Council's Internal Audit team has completed a further review. We have received confirmation that:
"The payment for the Special Responsibility Allowance (Opposition Group Officer Holder) has been made by the council in accordance with normal practice, and that the council has discharged its role appropriately."
