I suspect my most likely non-PNW cities would be, in no particular order: Pittsburgh, Denver, Baltimore, and Sacramento. All but Denver are relatively inexpensive and have more going on than people imagine. (Also, both Pittsburgh and Baltimore need someone to open a tiki bar there.)

I'm blundering through exercises in "What Color is Your Parachute," an old but oddly fascinating job hunting book that focuses less on "how to land a job" than "figure out what you want to do and where you want to be," and am at the point that's literally "where", e.g., geography.

I often start brainstorming stories with the basic formula of "a character in a context (situation/place) with a problem". A challenge with macro stories sometimes is figuring out whether the giant slots into that as "character" or "problem"
