Yes. HBO wanted it to run more seasons—it was the showrunners who decided they wanted to end it and go do other projects. (Which, ironically, mostly fell through because they screwed up the ending so badly.)

Hmm. My once-favorite crazy story theory program, Dramatica Pro, went dormant for a decade and reappeared going all in on AI a couple of years ago. Now they seem to be relenting on their AI-or-nothing approach: far more talk about the non-AI parts, and the first AI mention is "AI is optional".
