I felt like there was an idea that anyone standing on American soil should be given the full protection of our laws regardless of where they are from and how long they are staying. I think that idea was never universal, but somehow has sharply declined ans been replaced by xenophobia in recent years

MLK was only 39 when he was killed. Growing up, I thought that was old. But I’m 43 now and I’m stunned by the burden he shouldered at such a young age. I’m also a lot more aware of how hard it is, at any age, to carry the hopes and dreams of an oppressed people on your shoulders, as so many do.

I uninstalled duolingo because duo is always sad no matter if I've done a lesson and I'm tired of looking at that. I'll assume he's sad bc America is wretched now but probably it's a bug or some psychological game the Duolingo company is playing with the long game of getting more $$$.
