Anneal is a Go ML compiler. Graph rewrites, rangeify indexing, iterative rewrite driver handles deep graphs without stack exhaustion. WebGPU on Metal. Heavily inspired by tinygrad. github.com/georgebuilds/anneal

However inadvisable, I am porting tinygrad to pure Go. AMA.

why is so much of the pds docs related to bsky? in the installer(.)sh file alone it references URLs to the bsky appview & others. what happens if in future ppl wanna self host without using bluesky at all?

Bridgy Fed fans, big news: accounts bridged into Bluesky can now use custom domain handles! Also, if you deactivate bridging, you can now undo it and bring back your bridged Bluesky account. And much more! snarfed.org/2024-10-29_5...

atproto decouples data hosting from applications. this is possible because all data is signed — so every app can verify that you have actually written the posts the app received and they weren’t tampered with in transit comparing atproto with AP verbally is hard because AP couples hosting and apps

People can totally worry about bsky going bad! But actually do something about it. Bring your own username domain rather than borrowing bsky’s Get together with friends & run your own PDS. Use a different client if you like. Your data is yours even on the Bsky PDS and migration is built in.

more than that — the AT Protocol works for storing other types of data too (up to the app developer), not just Bluesky posts here’s my data on the AT Protocol: atproto-browser.vercel.app/at/danabra.mov. note it includes Bluesky app data, but also data from smokesignal.events and from frontpage.fyi

everyone whos ever thought about building a social app but realised it is virtually impossible to do so because bootstrapping a new social graph is such a high barrier for users, suddenly get presented with a free social graph that they can build upon.

atproto is designed from its core to minimize "value capture", while maximizing "value creation". this is the exact opposite of what most VCs look for, and to me that implies that anyone investing in Bluesky genuinely believes in its potential for social good

ATProtocol itself is great, and I think people generally understand the value of owning your data as it is stored in your PDS. What I think doesn't get enough attention is that your PDS is also your source of identity with OAuth, and that really is game-changing.

David Zaslav’s Warner Bros has been trying to bury Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi follow up to Parasite for over a year now, refused to let it play Cannes, and is now dumping it in January. Rumors are Robert Pattinson’s weirdo performance also bothered them which to me means it must be friggin’ awesome.

honestly if bsky.social accepted repo imports it might be neat because then the tools that convert your twitter data to bluesky posts could just submit the entire repository in one go rather than firing an api call for each record
