On Friday, ICE posted 33 detainee mortality reports to their online FOIA Library. Over the weekend, those reports were inexplicably deleted. We have archived them on our GitHub and are sharing them in hopes that the information is useful to journalists, researchers, and the general public.

Shared with me by @jjindc.bsky.social, in the Denver Post. Dana Miller, you rock. Flight attendants know what’s up.
Immigrants shackled for
DIA flights are at risk
It was good to see Denver International Airport's commitment to safety demonstrated by its full-scale emergency exercise Aug. 19. 1 was a flight attendant for close to 30 years and I am glad to see the exercise included realtime role-playing, not relying solely on simulated training scenarios.
I wonder if DEN included the consideration that Immigration and Customs Enforcement charters fly in and out of the airport frequently.
These ICE flights contain passengers who are shack-led. They are restrained by leg irons and handcuffs attached to a waist chain and stay shackled throughout the flights. The restraints prevent them from reaching for an oxygen mask if there is a decompression, and in the event of a water emergency, donning personal life vests would be nigh impossible.
It seems to me that specialized training would be necessary for first responders and firefighting crews. Evacuations and rescues of an aircraft full of shackled passengers could make a horrifying situation much worse.

We’re at the “shipping container courts” stage of ICE’s mass expansion of the enforcement system.
Each detention unit would sit on asphalt or concrete behind an office's existing security fence, with a counter for processing people and a separate holding area fitted with a toilet and sink for detainees according to the draft work statement.
The agency also wants a 300-square-foot unit for interviewing people in custody and a 60-square-foot "Virtual Immigration Court Unit" for hearings run by the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Justice Department agency that operates the immigration courts.
Both must also be designed for their purpose before delivery.

Full article: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
From The Guardian newspaper:
"The folks that have to do the implementation are told, "These instructions came directly from the White House, or "These instructions came directly from Stephen Miller, as a way of conveying, you know, the importance of implementing them in a timely fashion and doing it in the way that they were instructed to do it," one source said.
Sources warned of the White House pushing each department to boost efforts individually and by working together in new ways to speed up and expand the deportation of undocumented children - especially by dismantling inter-agency communication safeguards designed to protect children, and hurrying them in vast numbers, without lawyers, in front of asylum officers and immigration judges who are either inclined or are under pressure to take a hard line and get them out of the US.”From The Guardian newspaper: “"Stephen Miller is incredibly involved in the whole immigration side, he has his daily calls, he reaches down into the agencies," she said.
Many unaccompanied children are facing the prospect of a forced return to dangerous situations in their countries of origin, particularly in Central America, including Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, or even places as unstable as Afghanistan. Many have relatives in the US whom they could live with, who are vetted by the government and are known as sponsors. But the second Trump administration has severely restricted this from happening, either through new bureaucratic methods that keep children in custody until they can be deported, or by making prospective sponsors too scared of ICE to come forward.
Adults and families embroiled in the immigration system are subject to potential detention by DHS, while unaccompanied children are supposed to be quickly transferred from that department's agencies into the custody of ORR.
This divide is by congressional design, in recognition that children in the country alone should not rely for care on the same agency that is trying to deport them, experts said.
Yet as in other policy areas, this White House is prepared to break norms.”

A black-and-white pinto horse, facing right and about one quarter-turn away from the camera so that his rump is closer to it than his head. He is grazing in a paddock with bright green cropped grass. The paddock is bordered by black four-board plank fences and is on top of a slight hill that gently slopes from the camera. On the lower ground in the background, one can see two other pastures, bisected by another black fence, and beyond them a thick line of various trees. The sky appears pale blue, with thin white clouds here and there.

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
Mother Jones

"In today's society, you know, everybody's filming everything, everybody has a cell phone," Glueck said. If an officer punches someone on camera, that can go viral in an instant; even a standard taser leaves puncture wounds. But "the glove is low optic, and it looks better on camera, and it looks better to those witnesses. With a glove, there are no burn marks or scars."But local police across the country are still eagerly buying the gloves—in large part so that they can harm people and avoid being sued for it. It's been successful "from the patrolmen to the jailers," Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said in a Compliant Technologies promotional video. "It's been a great tool as far as mitigating liability," according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.
Bob Couey of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department sung the GLOVE's praises, too: "I highly recommend these gloves to anybody that's looking for a utility they can use that is conducive to not leading to lawsuits."
