This is sensible imho, but the real solution is electric vehicles. We have to end our fossil fuel dependency as quickly as possible; it's causing so much pain. Here's an idea: the government could expand the ZEBRA electric bus programme until the UK public bus fleet is fully decarbonised

LOTO have always got to possess a bit of PMA, but there are times during this where I just think Badenoch has not fathomed the Tory party's fight is existential right now. This did make me laugh though, she called for Britain to enter the Iran war with the US just 6 months ago before backtracking!

Comrade Burnham spent 10 years under siege in Greater Manchester until his glorious march from Makerfield to London. He did not endure such things only to be betrayed by saboteurs who do not participate in the weekly tiramisu ceremony!

Chairman Burnham has announced a national mobilization! Citizens will work together, co-ordinated by the party, to create a novelty bar experience in every commune by the first month of 2028. The winds of Manchesterism will soon blow over the whole country!

funny that after years of treating it as impossible to touch the triple lock is a bit of a paper tiger. scrapping it for social care polls well and doing it immediately creates a bunch of new divides in the opposition parties.

Think Burnham laying loads of stuff out for the next manifesto is actually pretty sharp. Plenty of examples of social democrat led governments in the EU that have realised mid term they need to do a difficult reform and then died as they try and manoeuvre themselves into doing it quickly.

Such a huge red flag for wrong'uns. Traffic police and punishing offences should be a much higher priority. Cars with ghost plates and drivers with no-license/insurance on motorways are an important enabler of serious criminal enterprise using cars and motorways.

Illegal registration plates are far too easy to get hold of and are putting the public at risk, BBC is told.

TIL that Mohamed Atta was a professional urban planner, of the preservationist nimby persuasion, and that his graduate school thesis was about how high-rises ruin neighborhood character 😳.
Screenshot of the Wikipedia page for 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta that reads, “ At the Hamburg University of Technology, Atta studied under the guidance of the department chair, Dittmar Machule, who specialized in the Middle East. 19] Atta was averse to modern development. This included the construction of high-rise buildings in Cairo and other ancient cities in the region. He believed that the drab and impersonal apartment blocks, built in the 60s and 70s, ruined the beauty of old neighborhoods and robbed their people of privacy and dignity.”Screenshot of the Wikipedia page for 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta, with a highlighted sentence that reads “He criticized how the newfangled skyscrapers and other modernizing projects disrupted the fabric of communities.”

I find it baffling that Labour does not seem to get this. By equivocating on such a core issue, they’re making their own voters unsure about the core values of the party / government and hence more susceptible to voting for someone else.
