I think that Dolly Parton was, for a lot of people, an ambassador of the "good" values people think of about the South: kindness, hospitality, can-do spirit, sharp and witty and down to earth. I think for a segment of people, too, she was theantithesis of a lot of noxious masculine country stuff.

I made some stuff for my RPG hobby with them. Some character avatars, a custom tarot deck and puzzles for an adventure... and it was all kind of cool and ultimately unsatisfying. I had already mostly stopped using it when it started becoming clear what genAI was and who wanted it to succeed.

Back in ~2022 when these tools started appearing, I tried them out. Before I knew about the plagiarism, before they became a part of the fascist billionaire agenda, before they were driving the growth of data centers to destroy communities and environments, they were a kind of fun toy to play with.

Really, the person who made the image bothers me, but is still redeemable. They're honest about what they are doing. They might learn and grow and stop using genAI. But the one who crops and posts it as reality is garbage and will never be anything but.
