@drdeanburnett.bsky.social have you ever come across this podcast: neurosense.substack.com - I started listening because of previous content by the author re school non-attendance which had been recommended to me, but I'm finding the approach to neurodivergence from psychologists hard to take.

"The symptoms of #ADHD are just normal behaviours!" If you or anyone you know has been confronted with this argument as to why ADHD is 'not a thing', I made this for you. And yes, this IS my professional opinion.

Dean Burnett on Instagram: ""The symptoms of #ADHD are just normal behaviours!" That's what many claim, at least. This is the rationale for dismissing it as a genuine medical condition, like @channel4 did in 'The Great ADHD Myth?' But is that true? Or is it just a deeply cynical, and clearly deliberate, misrepresentation of how diagnosis and symptoms actually work? [Hint: its the second thing] #neurodivergence #symptoms #medicine #diagnosis"

Can it hurt to give this one more nudge? Perhaps, slightly (because every time I do any self promotion I feel an irrepressible wave of nausea). But I'm going to do it anyway. Because it might bring a mistreated book to three or four new readers. And that's VERY much worth my while.

Oh sure, when teens and young adults prefer to take in important information via clips and reels, they've all got 'brain rot' and society is doomed. But someone renders major historical events via the medium of a big scarf, and people can't get enough of it? PICK A LANE, GUYS! #BayeuxTapestry

What good would withdrawing your complaint make? Surely even if you “can’t wait” you’d still want to lodge it? This seems completely pointless and somewhat disingenuous…

Saw this yesterday, put down my phone and read for longer than I probably have done for the last month combined (and took notes!). And then promptly clearly forgot as I picked up my phone again this morning instead of a book. I’d wholeheartedly recommend this - but thanks for the reminder!

🚨New preprint and our results are rather concerning.. We find the "boiling frog" equivalent of AI use. Using large-scale RCTs, we provide *casual* evidence that AI assistance reduces persistence and hurts independent performance. And these effects emerge after just 10–15 minutes of AI use! 1/
