3.2 million workers in Virginia will be able to take care of themselves and their loved ones without worrying about risking their jobs. This is a landmark win, but it shouldn't stop at state lines. It's time for Congress to pass federal #paidleaveforall.
Image with a background of a partially visible Virginia flag. Text overlay reads: "GOOD CARE NEWS! Virginia passed paid family and medical leave! Virginia becomes the 15th state, including the District of Columbia, to pass a statewide paid family and medical leave program." Logo of Caring Across Generations is at the top.Text over an image of the state of Virginia on a map. The text states that with the passage of HB1207/SB2, workers will have access to 12 weeks of paid leave at 80% of their average weekly wage. Starting in 2028, 91% of the private sector workforce in Virginia will have access to paid time off for self-care or to care for loved ones. This makes Virginia the first state in the South to offer paid family and medical leave statewide. The Caring Across Generations logo is at the bottom.
