September is NICU Awareness Month, and somehow my former NICU baby recently turned 11 yo 🥲 This not-so-little-anymore boy faced just a 30% chance of survival at one point. It's been the gift of a lifetime to watch him grow & thrive.
Me, a woman with long brown hair and bangs, standing with my right arm around my son, now a pre-teen boy standing 5' tall. His face is obscured. There is a waterfall wall and greenery behinds us.A younger me with my hair in a bun smiling largely at the camera while sitting in a chair wearing a hospital gown. I hold my son, a premature infant, who is wrapped in a blanket in my arms. He is hooked up to several monitoring leads. A hospital room is partially visible in the background.
