Following a negative public response, the Carney Liberals are abandoning plans to amend the Species At Risk Act. A federal gov't source told CBC News that upcoming legislation will preserve SARA, including jeopardy tests. However, advocates say the govt can still bypass SARA through other means.

Every conversation about bike lanes is like: "Car crashes kill a huge number of people every day, including pedestrians, cyclists, & car occupants. Good bike infrastructure has been shown to make everyone safer (& doesn't increase congestion)." "But sometimes cyclists break rules & hit people!"

I was just thinking about your paper yesterday. I was chatting about whether salmon are being inadvertently being selected for small body size, or whether the smaller portions of packaged salmon reflect a way for manufactures to avoid increasing costs

The rise of larger vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks, with their taller hoods and larger blind zones, has contributed to a 75% increase in pedestrian and cyclist deaths since 2009. Until we design better streets and ban these vehicles, people outside these vehicles will keep dying.
