Alberta's West Coast Pipeline has been designated as the 1st project of national interest. This allows for the fast-tracking of environmental review and Indigenous consultation into a 1-year timeline. Govt estimates a cost of $35B+, 90% of which (as of now) will be shouldered by CDN taxpayers.

Following a negative public response, the Carney Liberals are abandoning plans to amend the Species At Risk Act. A federal gov't source told CBC News that upcoming legislation will preserve SARA, including jeopardy tests. However, advocates say the govt can still bypass SARA through other means.
