Gait didn't improve (or worsened) in people w/ Parkinson's disease when using a digital laser shoe for visual cues, & increased gait variability may raise fall risk. More work needs to be done to develop practical, effective cueing devices for this population. 🧠🔄 journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....
This image shows details about the paper linked in the post. It was published in the journal Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair, and the title of the paper is, "Digital Cueing With Laser Shoes Does Not Improve Walking in Parkinson’s Disease: Evidence Across Disease Severity and Freezing Status".

Three years ago I published a post on person-centred rehabilitation based on an article. I have revised and improved it. The post is here: rehabilitationmatters.com/a-model-of-p...

A model of person-centred rehabilitation - Rehabilitation Matters
Most clinicians, teams and organisation intend to give person-centred care. Five attributes of a clinical encounter demonstrate it. Managerial culture stops it.

I talk about measurement in rehabilitation, and use a non-psychometric approach that explains what validity and reliability (repeatability) are and why they are needed. I also discuss the vital importance of knowing what you want to know and why. rehabilitationmatters.com/academic-reh... #neurorehab

DW. Practice improves function; this is a central tenet of rehabilitation. A recent trial demonstrates that a protocol to increase walking practice after stroke is effective. We must help patients practice independently without professional supervision. doi.org/10.1016/S147... #neurorehabilitation

Virtual reality appears to be a promising approach for rehabilitation. But a new Cochrane systematic review of 190 trials only found weak evidence. www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10..... I have discussed some reasons for this in an editorial. www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10..... #neuroreab
