Reform UK's Suella Braverman promises ‘consequences’ if pupils don’t sing Christian hymns. That would be policed. So what happens to atheists, agnostics, non-believers and other religious denominations. Will they be persecuted, imprisoned? Reform UK getting desperate and bizarre.

Trying to be civil, can I ask you the following. Suppose a 15 year old girl broke the 100 metres world record. Would it be appropriate to call her "the women's world record holder" or not?

This is the clearest possible example of how trans exclusion harms women's rights. This conference hosted important discussions about a whole range of critical issues, but its decisions were devalued by the fact that the party capitulated to the threat of lawfare. Transphobia harms all women.

Customers of our company are being sent emails pretending to come from our manager, and using his photo lifted from LinkedIn. These are scams, and one of our customers has got the bank account name, number and sort code. But reporting this to the police or bank seems impossible.

The Times corrects its splash story headlined "Migrant care workers bring dozens of family members." The Times got this totally wrong. It then used its own error as the basis for an editorial calling explicitly for forced expulsions of people living here legally. www.thetimes.com/comment/regi...
In a headline and a leading article we said migrant care workers were each bringing up to 15 family members with them (News, Comment, Jul 6). This was incorrect. The ratio of 15 to 1 was that of new visa approvals for Cameroonian care workers to visa approvals for family members of all Cameroonian care workers already in the UK in 2025-26. The same applies to arrivals from Ghana, Bangladesh and India. There is no connection between new visa approvals for care workers, who are not allowed to bring any dependants at all, and visas issued to the family members of care workers who were here already.

100% agree that we need to carefully consider implications of AI, and also ensure communities benefit. But datacentres aren't only about AI, and they seem a pretty clean and efficient use of our resources. Why send electricity south with transmission losses when we can send data without?

Garve Scott-Lodge @garve.scott-lodge.com · 14/06/2026
I'm not necessarily pro-datacentre, but Scotland does have a surplus of electricity, water and land, so I'm a bit baffled by the opposition. Moreso when it comes from folk who regularly complain about us exporting electricity across the border.
