Relieved that there's a candidate in my provincial riding I can feel ok about voting for. This hopefully means my decisions about the two elections have been made. My PEM prevented me from early municipal voting yesterday. Might try to get a mail in ballot.

Here's a story I don't believe I've told about my #LongCOVID. One of my symptoms is tachycardia, especially if I've been doing a lot (physically or mentally). My GP investigated and found nothing of note. However during my gender-affirming surgery, the anesthesiologist caught it! 1/?

19th Century anti-Canada lies/propaganda as told by American slave masters: 1) You have to give half your wages to the Queen. 2) Ground is always covered in ice, nothing can be grown. 3) Geese will scratch your eyes out. (Farrell 1955)
THE HISTORY OF THE NEGRO COMMUNITY IN CHATHAM, ONTARIO

71

'After we began to hear about Canada', said M.J. Lindsay, "our master used to tell us all manner of stories about what a dreadful place it was;
and we believed some of them, we didn't. When they told us that we must pay half our wages to the Queen, every day, it didn't seem strange to us nor wrong; but when they said it was so cold there that men going mowing had to break the ice with their scythes, I didn't believe that, because it was onreasonable (sic). I knew grass wouldn't grow where ice was all the time.' 'I was old before I left Virginia', said Dan Fackart, 'I have heard it as common talk that the wild geese were so common in Canada, that they would scratch a man's eyes out; that corn wouldn't grow there, nor anything but rice; that everything they had there was imported'........82

As Dr. S.G. Howe puts it, "Nothing invited the Negroes to this
cold region, except the still, small voice of freedom."

In a WTF moment, someone got a partisan sign for the municipal election installed on the public grounds of my housing co-op. So I wrote a letter to the boards of both co-ops as well as the organization that manages them. I barely restrained myself from BCC'ing as many neighbors as I could. #BCPoli

TL;DR a lot of it is poverty and the fact that some symptoms are attributed to mental illness instead of BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY. IME it can also be hard to advocate for your physical health when your mental health is an ongoing concern.

Good rule in general is Do Not Touch Wild Animals (and pets that are not your own should only be touched with permission). Great rule: Do Not Get Close To Any Animal Acting Completely Outside Normal Behavior (bats on ground, daylight raccoons, aggressive squirrels, etc)

Having a dynamic disability is wild. Some days I can't be in well-lit rooms with an appliance running, other days I can go out and do errands and make things. I can... Kind of? Predict my capacity based on the cumulative activities of previous days.

If you truly believe that "AI is here and not going away", you should be pushing for either hard regulation of this thing or for UBI or something that can guarantee that everyone affected by it will still be able to survive.

I am currently arguing with my dog about why he must eat his kibble, and not just a pile of liver treats, for breakfast. A year and a half ago I would have said dogs can't argue. So far he's turned his head, stared into the middle distance, pawed at me plaintively, and used his round eyes
