I was at the first party meeting he turned up at, but then I’m the sort of anorak who could name most of our MPs.

For those looking for the Lib Dem leadership election rules, see below. Key bit is "a vote of no confidence in the Leader being passed by a majority of all Members of the Parliamentary Party in the House of Commons"
ARTICLE 18: The Leader
18.1 The Leader of the Party shall be elected by the members of the Party in
accordance with election regulations made pursuant to Article 9.9.
18.2 An election for the Leader shall be called upon:
a. the Leader asking for an election;
b. the death or incapacity of the Leader;
c. the Leader ceasing to be a Member of the House of Commons (other
than a temporary cessation by reason of a dissolution);
d. the receipt by the President of the resignation of the Leader or of a
declaration of intent to resign upon the election of a new Leader;
e. a vote of no confidence in the Leader being passed by a majority of all
Members of the Parliamentary Party in the House of Commons;
f. the receipt by the President of a requisition submitted by at least 75
Local Parties (including for this purpose, the Affiliated Organisation or
Organisations representing youth and/or students) following the
decision of a quorate general meeting; or
g. the first anniversary of the preceding general election being reached
without an election being called under any of paragraphs (a) through (f),
provided that:
i. the Federal Board may postpone such an election for no more
than one year by a two-thirds majority of those present and
voting; and
ii. this paragraph (g) shall not apply if the Leader is a member of the
Government.

This challenge to Ed Davey's leadership is timely and necessary. Lib Dem support is flatlining, and Davey's only response has been increasingly desperate attempts to appeal to Tory voters, most recently with unfunded tax cuts, which is both amoral and looks ridiculous.

You can’t make decisions like that when you have councillors of four different political persuasions in parts of Oxford. Susan Brown is not talking about temporary mitigation and was silent until after the works were finished - by contrast the discussion with Saj has been constructive.

…and I’m open to reviewing the threshold for that. What I’m not going to do is tear up established policies just because someone on the Internet shouts. You mentioned “polarisation”. I’m interested in sensible pragmatic solutions that don’t put safety at risk.

The only person gaslighting is Susan Brown, who didn’t contact me and offers no sensible suggestion. You can’t run a road network as if it’s a weathervane and suddenly throw traffic onto calmed routes without clear reason and communication. There is clearly a point at which this can be considered

Not at all. There is nothing more ableist,or dangerous, than opening/ shutting LTNs at a whim. I’ve been talking in depth with officers to learn lessons and look practically at how we manage the network. What I don’t take kindly to are clueless interventions from people who should know better.

Evidence and facts are of no consequence to the likes of them. You’re right (of course), extra free permits are available even though only a tiny proportion of patients would conceivably pass a filter on a preferred route to the hospitals.
