The image is of a four panel comic.
In the first panel we see Sarah, the protagonist, next to a stick figure labeled “AI”. The stick figure says, “my outputs look just like yours now.”
The second panel zooms in on Sarah’s face. Above her we see text reading “I think”.
The third panel zooms in closer on Sarah’s face. Text above her reads “you missed”.
The fourth panel shows Sarah drawing happily in a sunlit room. The text above her reads “the point”.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The title for the first two panels is "Young Me".
In panel one we see a young version of Sarah, the protagonist. She says, "I want to achieve great things".
In panel two we zoom in a little on young Sarah's face. She continues, "An astounding career! An amazing house! World peace!"
The title for the last two panels is "Adult Me".
In panel three we see adult Sarah, looking down.
In panel four we zoom out and see she is in front of a basil plant. She simply says "I want to grow a basil plant".

It is so goddamn perfect out in Cambridge today. Here's your plan: 1. Wander to your local bookstore 2. Buy a book on a whim. (Don't overthink it, don't make it hard) 3. Get a tasty beverage 4. Set up somewhere outside & read for a bunch 5. Remember you deserve joy

The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
And I wake in the night at the least sound
In fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake rests
in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Everything is terrible but books are good. Especially books written by real people. Talk about your books. Show us your art. Let us see the cool stuff you make. You need it but we need it too. Art helps maker and receiver get their heads above the rough, churning waters of reality. No shame in it.

So embarrassing when people think the point of reading a novel is to know the plot, so a summary is just as good. The plot isn’t important, you rube. You absolute simpleton. The point of reading a novel is to find out what the characters are eating and start thinking about what you want for dinner.

No amount of hard work will ever earn you sleep that good. 🐾
A cozy illustration of a tiny black cat sleeping upside down on a large, fluffy bed piled high with colorful pillows. The cat is completely relaxed, with its paws in the air and a peaceful smile. A window beside the bed reveals a dark blue evening sky. Above the scene, the text reads: “No matter how hard you worked or how tired you got, you’ll never sleep as well as a cat who just did absolutely nothing all day.” The soft purple and pastel tones create a warm, calm, and comforting atmosphere.

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION
WILL DIE TONIGHT
My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools.
Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's
"keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's
"we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight."
It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before.
"It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time.
A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead.
