In my professional opinion, the Protect College Sports Act is bad, actually, and I hope it doesn't pass. www.extrapointsmb.com/p/the-protec...

The Protect College Sports Act is a bad bill, and I hope it doesn't become law
In my professional judgement, this legislation will not do the things its advocates say it will.

sidebar to this: ANY Catholic can do baptisms. lay people are allowed to do them as long as we can say we thought the baptised was at risk of death somehow. which is a remarkably low bar in modern life, with cars wizzing around etc. And once it's done, you're a full Catholic, in the church's eyes

Some professors at the University of St. Thomas are doing a research project on the effects of the ICE occupation on Twin Cities parents. They're looking for parents who are US citizens, who live in the Twin Cities metro area, and who have kids ages 5-10. stthomas.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

Everyone needs to listen to Gustav Holst's "The Planets", not for hoity-toity nerd reasons, but because every epic sci-fi movie OST for the past century has been directly lifting shit from this one specific collection of pieces, and you deserve to hear your favourite motif in its native environment.

In 1900, 31% of all deaths were children under the age of 5. Today it’s 0.7%. Vaccines, medications, and modern science are the reason why. Trust the science, it’s been proven to work safely and efficiently time and time again.

STUDY: Denmark tracked over a million children for 21 years, and found vaccines linked to zero extra cases of autism, asthma, or 48 other conditions. Vaccines are safe, effective, and the best way to eradicate preventable disease. Period.

If Trump's tariffs were boosting the prospects of American-based manufacturing, then Ford ought to be one of the biggest winners. In reality, the tariffs are crushing Ford.
reason.com
Ford paid $800 million in tariff costs over 3 months, despite building most of its cars in America
That should put an end to the Trump administration's talking point about how there is no tariff for products built in the U.S.

Since @briansmith.pro asked and @amandamull.bsky.social gave her blessing, here’s my writeup on the Mull family biscuit recipe with measurements by weight and some further instructions based on my own trial and error. I tripled the base ratios and it yielded nine 3” biscuits and one 2” biscuit.
Biscuits
        Original Method via Amanda Mull
                    and the Mull Family

Base Ratios
-225g self-rising flour
-55g Crisco/vegetable shortening
-128g buttermilk

Method
1.) Add flour to a medium-sized bowl. Using a pastry cutter or a fork, mash the Crisco into the self-rising flour. It should ressemble a coarse meal with bits of the shortening throughout.

2.) Add buttermilk to the flour/shortening mixture and mix to combine. The dough should be slightly sticky to the touch. Adjust the amounts of flour and buttermilk as necessary. Let the dough rest for about 20 minutes in a covered bowl (I use a towel). It’ll get poofy.3.) Lay some flour on a clean surface and place the dough on it. Flatten the dough ball with your fingers, then roll the dough into a 1/2” thick round.

4.) LAMINATE: Fold the left and right thirds of the flattened dough towards the center, like you’re folding a letter for an envelope. Roll the folded dough into a 1/2” slab once again, then turn the dough 90 degrees. Add flour only as necessary. A bench scraper helps greatly with this process.

5.) Repeat Step 4 twice, but on the second repeat, flatten only to 1” or 1-1/4”. This will be the height of your pre-baked biscuits.6.) Cut dough with a biscuit cutter or into squares. Consolidate and re-laminate any leftover dough you may have, being sure not to overwork it. With a 2” cutter, the base ratios will yield approximately 6 biscuits. Place biscuits on a sheet tray with the sides touching and cover with a towel for about 20 minutes. They’ll get poofy again.

7.) Preheat your oven to 475. Bake biscuits for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Make sure the biscuits are cooked through where they’re touching.

8.) Once finished, keep warm in a clean kitchen towel. Serve with real butter and eat.The finished biscuits from this morning on a silver sheet tray.
