Oh not really, not yet! Covid was plenty bad, yeah. But in general we today can’t compete with the human misery of any time before, like, 1950 or so. (Never say never! Just haven’t gotten there yet for lots of reasons.)

All the dumbass schemes to change the outcome of the election had already faceplanted at that point; the J6 riot was just the temper tantrum at the end. They succeeded in getting some people killed (mostly their own people) but that was the extent of it.

Yeah. We've literally gone through all this before. It was disgraceful in 2020 but also utterly ineffectual. They were unable to change a single election result anywhere. It's just not a thing that really happens, and it won't happen this time either.

But of course that plan founders on the fact the the Senate GOP absolutely does not want to pass the SAVE Act at all, let alone break the filibuster for it. And since "illegal voting" basically doesn't exist, it wouldn't do any good even if they miraculously changed their mind.
