Publishing as a business can be achingly slow, inefficient and frustrating... but at the same time, it can be filled with the nicest people doing their best to accommodate budgets, changes & deadlines, despite being overworked and underpaid themselves.

clip studio paint is banning 'adult' assets from their materials and running ai to do it for them (of course). so of course, they're taking down anything that has two models in it and other unrelated assets (free or paid) without a single warning to its creator(s). #fuckcensorship

so tapas getting closed down by a megacorp? that tracks. just completely. and i think people's defense is 'well you shouldn't have trusted them anyway', which is actually, kind of sad. we've all been burned too many times when all we want to do is share our art with our friends.

My favorite RSS Reader rn is this one. rssguard.com It is an application that runs on your 'puter. Just the way I like it. If you prefer a web app that you can log into using all your phones and tablets try NewsBlur or Inoreader tho.

everyone wants to tell artists what to do and i wish we could shift to telling audiences what to do sometimes. if you liked webcomics that were on tapas, follow somewhere else. learn to use RSS. don't let the seamlessness of apps turn your brain into soup. you can change your habits

There's a reason us olds always say to have your own webcomic site and only mirror on hosting sites for extra reach. But I really feel for people whose comics found their audience, or their income, on Tapas. You don't get to choose where your work resonates. Fewer options=bad. Webtoon monopoly=bad.

We need to make sure we’re directing the frustration at the right people. Most of the responsibility falls on the show organizers more than the artists submitting their applications. It’s the show’s responsibility to curate their vendor/artist alley for the type of show they want.

Cover of "The Ins and Outs of Webcomics" by "Jey Pawlik". Black and white illustration with halftones of Jey, a nonbinary person with short cropped black hair and big rectangular glasses running through a panel in a comic page. DO NOT APPLY TO OR ATTEND THIS SHOW. I don't care if it's in your backyard. You can bet that every convention runner is watching this and the bad ones are salivating at this idea of $150 application fees, plus jacked up booth rates. If it works for this show, they WILL try it at theirs.

Alright, it was suggested to me that I actually crowdfund the out of pocket cost for the lumbar MRI since my insurance keeps denying the day before the appt even w/ it as an important order. I will have more info in the replies as well. I was honestly hesitant but... ko-fi.com/portaltohades

Right now, I'm currently in need of a lumbar MRI but due to insurance denials and other roadblocks, I may be forced to pay out of pocket. Since trying to get it twice now, my symptoms have significantly worsened over the last few months. After discussing my options with friends, I've agreed to make a kofi goal to cover the MRI, bills, transportation, and a small cushion for other necessities. Literally any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

this is what artfight feels like to me

edited “they don’t know i’m (blank)” meme showing people dancing at a party with a guy in the corner holding a cup and a party hat. i’ve edited it so that he’s smiling mischievously, standing at a desk with a drawing tablet and a pen in his other hand. the text next to him says “they don’t know i’m drawing their ocs”
