I feel like more people should be talking about this part

Screenshot from the article that reads, The Stud, San Francisco's oldest gay bar, was only able to have its Meta pages restored because of the bars popularity among gay tech executives with connections to Meta

This game absolutely rules and you will love it. Full stop.

Okay we're all (correctly) yelling about Hoggle but these also made me yell:

Art from a magic card called Shaft of Hands, a renamed Rogue's Passage. It is a full art borderless card, with hand-drawn hands and Sarah from Labyrinth. The line art feels like a kid's book.

Image of a magic card called I've brought You a Gift, a renamed Trinisphere card. The full-art card features Jareth holding three spheres in one hand from the movie Labyrinth.

I my heart I know that the Labyrinth cards will be mono-red goblin-related cards but a girl can dream!!

I could also fuck with: Put That Baby's Spell On Me that flips to So I Hear You Like My Labyrinth (Land) but it's just this guy

One side of a Magic: The Gathering car called Hydroelectric Specimen. This card has a painting of a blue watery monster in Myst-esque laboratory setting, with a blue border and text at the bottom which reads "Creature - Weird. Flash. When Hydroelectric Specimen enters toe battlefield, you may change the target if target instant or sorcery spell with a single target to Hydroelectric Specimen."

A Labyrinth set is a great opportunity to bring the principles of songfic to Magic, like: You remind me of the babe (Enchant: Exile) What babe? (Instant: Counter creature) The babe with the power (Creature - Human) What power? (Instant: Counter noncreature) The power of voodoo (Sorcery)

In my work doing science communication, I'm always struck by how people are convinced that technical/scientific jargon is a substitute for clear and concise communication. But it's not!!

I non-ironically believe all Bay Area public planning needs somebody to day "how does this get us closer to getting Starfleet HQ one day?" as a genuine aspirational goal.

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

If one day we want the students of Starfleet Academy to be able to come into the city and continue it's horny legacy long into the future we need to start those transit connections now

Could not agree more. They landed the puzzle box but like, lost a wing off that raptor. A strong argument for the success of landing your premise on the back of middle aged people pining for each other.

I just hit S7 in my rewatch and I'm amazed by how well it has aged and how it keeps pace. They were talking about ICE disappearing people on 2009! The only thing that doesn't vibe today is the consistent pro-Israel thread, but that tracks for politics of the time and the characters voicing it.

I was pleasantly surprised to see The Good Wife made this list, it's so stacked with amazing actors and holds an astonishing amount of character growth and story for what is essentially a procedural.

I'm mad on behalf of The Good Place, the rare puzzle box show that stuck the landing and should be higher (but is probably too optimistic for people) I also need to know where the fuck Orphan Black is.

Talked about it with my human this morning and he thought that absolutely stunning weather is enough of a compensation for the difference in city amenities vs. New York, but I also think that dtsj is as much city as he wants to live in? This boggles my mind!

010

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

I was so mad the last time I was in NYC to realize that an apartment 7 blocks from the theater district cost the same as our place in SJ. The city amenities are not the same!!!

I am having an amazing time and I have deep concerns about anybody who hated on this show I do think this has the possibility of hitting on the things I wanted Enterprise to be about with the rivalry with the war college. What does it mean to rebuild the federation? What concessions?

I've only known Lura Thok for one episode and I would die for her

Lura Thok, a character of Klingon and Jem Hadar, in a Starfleet Academy uniform with a whistle on a lanyard around her neck.

He did like the idea of a hot tub and massage combo from some place in palo alto, and I'm pretty confident he'd love a good, solid pampering as a treat (for morale!)

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

The Human wants to get a massage, and I will encourage him in any self-care interest (he has only recently discovered the benefits of lotion on eczema). Bay area-ish? Ideally somewhere that does facials too, and we can roll with any vibe but dodgy (which have been many of the south bay recs so far)

I had no idea how much better it could be until I moved to California and I truly cannot imagine going back to that nonsense! Can you imagine what a hassle having a ton of special recall elections would be??

010

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Unfortunately there's precedent for PA senators fucking around in the mix and swapping parties (looking at you, Arlen Specter)

010

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

The revelation that I can vote at any polling place that's convenient in CA? Or just drop off my mail in on the day?? I'm constantly telling people from back home how nice it is. And a lot of statewide races in PA are determined by turnout, since the demos are so closely split

000

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Unfortunately no, PA doesn't do recall votes for anybody. Honestly tho probably a good idea that doesn't exist, as the state makes voting pretty difficult. Getting absentee ballots from my hometown was a nightmare, and during grad school I drove an hour and a half to vote bc it was easier

It's so much more interesting to think about a woman fighting for recognition in a military family! Or that a societally-conditioned obsession with youth can lead to making a deal to avoid death!! Who needs another power hungry man who is obsessed with young women and wants to live forever?

Apparently running Strahd as a woman has fully cooked my brain because I just scoffed a little at how much less interesting his origin is an just another power-hungry man.

Grants have disappeared, private gifts have shrunk dramatically, and attendance hasn't returned after early pandemic closures. We're all doing five jobs at once to be able to keep sharing science with people. There are very few places I can think of that aren't belt-tightening right now.

010

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

The whole field is suffering. Last time I was at ASTC (the science museum conference) it felt like half the people on each panel were 'formerly of ______' and had been laid off recently. We're losing so many qualified, wonderful people because nobody has funding.

110

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

What's really worrisome to me is that they and the backing of a large university. Those museums are usually considered to be safer than independent ones. It's scary to think what this means for us at smaller science museums.

132

ginger ninja @funkasarusrex.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

This is a persistent problem across science museums. Attendance has never recovered at mine, we're still frantically trying to get people on the door
