Films seen 2026 #218: Radio On. Saw this many years ago. Stands up well in its portrayal of declining England on the cusp of change. With added bonus of shots of parts of Bristol now gone - such as the Redcliffe Flyover - and parts still in development.

Eddie (John Jenkins) & Billy (Chris Mulkey) in PATTI ROCKS (1987). In 1975, they played the same characters in LOOSE ENDS. We made many efforts to release the latter, along w/PR, but there are licensing issues related to music cues & footage from another, very well-known film.

"Positioned between two eras of American filmmaking, [PATTI ROCKS is] the unacknowledged bridge between Cassavetes, Paul Mazursky and Mike Nichols, and the indies that would follow by Steven Soderbergh and Neil LaBute. Fun City Editions has released a superb Blu-ray of the film."

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS (1982) on @criterionchannl.bsky.social last night. Got excited when I saw it was set in Charlestown, PA - then learned screenwriter "Rob Morton" is actually Nancy Dowd, which means the movie takes place in the extended SLAP SHOT cinematic universe.
