Another woman, this time from 1542, with strong feelings about the Inquisition. Denounced in Lisbon for having said: "f*ck the Inquisition, f*ck those in charge of it and f*ck those who brought it [to Portugal] " (respondeu: merda pera a inquisicao e pera quem a manda e pera quem a tras).

Looks like the original has been swept away by the sands of time.
Gawain the green knight opening a letter sealed with waxLittle Alex Horne in his studio chair with the caption "so a simple task: land a fair blow anywhere on the green knight. One year later meet him at the green chapel, receive the same blow yourself."A cut to a wider shot showing Greg Davies in his throne turning to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Well surely no one just ran up and whanged his head clean off."Cut back to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Let's see Gawain first."

Celeste dos Cravos (2025), acrylic gouache (+ tiny bit of watercolour) on hot pressed paper (A3) The traditional version of the illustration I painted digitally last year, now as I had first envisioned it :)
Illustration by Eleonor Piteira featuring a woman on a balcony, holding a bouquet of red carnations, giving one of them to a soldier passing below, placing it on the muzzle of his gun while he looks up at her. All around, other soldiers walk beside him, some wearing red carnations on the muzzles of their guns too, others waiting for their turn to get one. On the background, Portuguese tiles frame the woman, while the balcony's railing slowly transforms into a streetlamp typical of Lisbon (with a caravel and 2 ravens, the symbols of the city).

I assure you. Every time you insist on saying "ethnic cleansing" you mean genocide.

I am once again shouting that the primary use case of ChatGPT is functionally equivalent to the late 1800s/early 1900s occult spiritualist practice of automatic writing, aka psychography. It’s an imagined-bullshit self-legitimation device. An unverified personal gnosis engine.

This paper starts out amazing and just keeps getting better arxiv.org/abs/2401.06133
A screenshot of a paper on arxiv, it reads:

The possibility of making $138,000 from shredded banknote pieces using computer vision

Every country must dispose of old banknotes. At the Hong Kong Monetary Authority visitor center, visitors can buy a paperweight souvenir full of shredded banknotes. Even though the shredded banknotes are small, by using computer vision, it is possible to reconstruct the whole banknote like a jigsaw puzzle. Each paperweight souvenir costs $100 HKD, and it is claimed to contain shredded banknotes equivalent to 138 complete $1000 HKD banknotes. In theory, $138,000 HKD can be recovered by using computer vision. This paper discusses the technique of collecting shredded banknote pieces and applying a computer vision program.A screenshot from the paper, it reads "The shredded banknotes were then collected. Surprisingly, three paperweight cylinders were opened, and two of them had stones in them". Three pictures follow.Screenshot from the paper, it reads: "This cylinder only contained 82.57/138 = 60% of the shredded banknote pieces that the label had claimed. Although this issue is not the focus of this paper, it appears that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority has broken the law."Screenshot from the paper, it reads: "The idea for this paper was discussed with the staff during my visit to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority visitor center. The paperweight souvenir is currently no longer available."
