JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsom are doing something new and important: They understand Stephen Miller's theory of fascist power politics, and they've developed a theory on how to combat it. More Dems need to reckon with Miller's understanding of the moment. New from me: newrepublic.com/article/2014...

Inside Stephen Miller’s Secret Plan to Normalize Trump’s Dictator Rule
He wants to supercharge searing civil tensions to get low-information voters to embrace their inner authoritarian. Exactly two Democrats appear to fully grasp this.

Honest question - does Kash Patel know about court?
FBI Director Kash Patel

@FBIDirectorKash

This morning just before 7am local time, an individual fired multiple rounds at a Dallas, Texas ICE facility, killing one, wounding several others, before taking his own life. FBI, DHS, ATF are on the ground with Dallas PD and state authorities.

While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an idealogical motive behind this attack (see photo below). One of the unspent shell casings recovered was engraved with the phrase “ANTI ICE.” More updates will be forthcoming.

These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off. We are only miles from Prarieland Texas where just two months ago an individual ambushed a separate ICE facility targeting their officers. It has to end and the FBI and our partners will lead the these investigative efforts to see to it that those who target our law enforcement are pursued and brought to the fullest extent of justice.

Thankfully, no law enforcement personnel were injured. Please pray for the injured and deceased.

Check out Justice Eddins’ complete repudiation of the Roberts Court here. It’s worth reading in full. It’s quite brave—and exceedingly rare—for a sitting judge to speak so candidly and scathingly about SCOTUS’ partisan contortions of law, history, and fact. www.courts.state.hi.us/wp-content/u...
The Supreme Court devalues democracy. Thirty-seven state
constitutions block public funds from supporting religious
entities. Richard Schragger, Micah Schwartzman & Nelson Tebbe,
Reestablishing Religion, 92 U. Chi. L. Rev. 199, 211 (2025) .
The Court aims to federally-repeal these state constitutional
provisions.
The Court's beliefs meddle with local and state
governments. Forcing states to send public funds to religious
entities federalizes public policy. By unprincipled fiat. See
also New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass'n, Inc. v. Bruen, 597
U.S. 1 (2022) (zero to superpower).
Taxpayer funds now flow to religious institutions. So, the
government collects money from nonbelievers (under the threat of
jail), and uses some of it to support religion. And since not
all religions will receive public funds, the government forces
minority faiths to support other faiths, or else.
The Court twists text, history, purpose, precedent, and
public meaning to offend the First Amendment's character-of-
government structure and the Constitution's separate sovereignty
structure.
As it steamrolls both, the Court says nothing about church-
state separation and federalism principles. The Court's
nevermind stance to the structural features of the Constitution
"has unfolded with little engagement with, and occasional

EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
COMMISSION,
131 M Street NE
Washington, DC 2050719. Because the threat that the President will continue to issue potentially devastating executive orders against law firms who do not "behave" remains urgent and outstanding and because it is not merely a threat but a proven pattern— this chill "of blizzard proportions" continues
to grip most of the top law firms and lawyers in the country. Id.
20. That is why the ABA is filing this lawsuit. As the nation's largest voluntary association of lawyers (which counts lawyers from every AmLaw 100 firm among its membership),
the ABA is uniquely situated to achieve meaningful and certain relief against this unconstitutional
Policy on behalf of a substantial part of the American bar. Pursuing such relief furthers the mission
of the ABA "[to serve equally our members, our profession and the public by defending liberty and delivering justice as the national representative of the legal profession." Never before has there been as urgent a need for the ABA to defend its members, their profession, and the rule of law itself.
21. The Law Firm Intimidation Policy is unlawful. Our Constitution does not vest the Executive Branch with the power to point to individual lawyers or law firms, declare by executive
fiat that their work or their internal policies are "against the national interest" or otherwise illegal
or improper, and direct (or threaten) executive action against that lawyer or law firm. Exercising
such power-and threatening to do so-violates the First Amendment and purports to exercisepower that the President does not have. "When the government draws legal scrutiny, its response must be to defend itself in court, not to intimidate those who would force it to do so." Jenner v.
DOJ, 2025 WL 1482021, at *9.
22. On behalf of itself and its members, the ABA asks the Court to declare this Law

Firm Intimidation Policy unconstitutional and enjoin all the named Defendants from implementing
and enforcing this Policy against the ABA or any of its members in the future.273. Enjoin Defendants from enforcing a Security Clearance Termination Provision

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday requiring people to provide documents proving they are citizens when they register to vote, a mandate that experts said could prevent millions of Americans from voting.
The order reflects Trump's long-standing fixation on election administration as well as his baseless claims following the 2016 and 2020 presidential races that both were riddled with fraud, particularly illegal voting by noncitizens. There is no evidence that widespread corruption, by noncitizens or others, tainted either contest.

Adjudicating whether an Executive Branch exercise of power is legal, or not, is actually the job of
