I’ve often written that Trump actually holds his MAGA base in contempt, sees them as easily manipulated marks. It’s pretty clear Hakeem Jeffries feels the same way about Democratic voters. When he has a friendly meeting with Jared Kushner, he knows how the base will react. He doesn’t care.
