Feeling really proud of myself. I thought that since becoming physically disabled, this limitless adventurous part of the world was closed to me. In Iceland - we opened doors & broke down barriers. Folks with disabilities deserve to be involved scientific fieldwork and the great outdoors 🌋🙌🏼♿️

🌋 Mount Etna's Voragine Crater is producing sustained Strombolian activity, with lava fountains and an ash plume reaching about 7 km height. Ashfall has been reported in Bronte. The VONA has been raised to Red, while Catania Airport (at the moment) remains operational. #Etna #Volcano #INGV

This little chickadee had likely just woken up from its nocturnal hibernation. It was -39C this when I took this. Chickadees can drop their core temperature up to 10C and go into torpor at night to conserve energy in extreme weather. #birds 🌿

In some cases, the core may be unique and irreplaceable, especially where land has since been developed or reclassified. Maintaining a reference library of boreholes enables future research to take place using new techniques, saving time, reducing costs and limiting the environmental impact.

Tiny blue-green crystals (there's a green coloured arrow stuck on the specimen to point these out) with some leaf-green illite and blue azurite on a matrix. From Bambollita Mine, Moctezuma, Sonora, Mexico.

Met another wheelie scientist here at the PhD programme symposium I'm attending - so great to see wheelie folks doing STEM. During my PhD all my disabled activist friends were in Disability Studies (which is awesome!) but I missed having fellow disabled STEM folks. Barriers keep so many of us out.

I am physically disabled. I have to use a wheelchair and/or crutches to move around. During my Bristol MSc I was unable to partake in essential research for my project - due to poor access - thus limiting my thesis Bristol is taking no responsibility for this. I’m at a loss as to what to do.
