I'm working on a column about the tech annoyances that drive us crazy, and I want it to be as universal as possible, so tell me yours! E.g. scanning a QR code to read a menu, never receiving the one-time passcode they supposedly texted you, "verify you're human" by IDing tiny motorcycles, etc.

There’s a debate to be had about reforming the academic peer review system. At #ESR, I see real improvements in article quality thanks to reviewers' feedback. But the process places a heavy burden on editors, reviewers and authors. And I agree, perhaps we do submit and publish too much. #peerreview

So in my field, we have this idea of “total survey error” where we enumerate all the many factors that can cause your estimate to deviate from the true population value. Most of them can’t be measured or quantified except in rare situations. But we tend to approach estimates with this in mind.
