Sliding over a name tag on the tabletop, Dastardly_devil asks the nervous guy, "First time?"

"Y-yes." They answer, sweating.

"WELCOME!" Dastardly_devil booms jovially, and then gestures at a sign on the wall. "Here are the rules:"

The sign lists:
-No play
-No touching another without consent
-No kinkshaming
-Keep the name tag on.

"If you're too shy to talk," He continues. "I can introduce you. If you have any questions or troubles, come talk to me!"

Gathering some courage, the shy guy ventures, "...What does 'no play' mean?"

The confident friend is eagerly filling out a name tag as Dastardly_devil answers, "Play is when people practice BDSM or kink. This event is a munch, it's only for meeting and talking."

"See," The confident friend says as they affix the name tag to the shy person. "I told ya!"

Looking somewhat relieved but still sweating, the shy friend answers, "Oh, Ok..."

Draping themself over their shy friend, the extrovert bemoans, "There's only play events in our town. We haven't dared go yet."

"Ah, it can be intimidating. But a munch is a good place to start!" The devil encourages.

"Wish it was closer though..." Groans the extroverted person.

"You could always make your own event, you know." Suggests Dastardly_devil.

"EEEEEH, REALLY?" They answer.

Comics tip for newbies: Don't use onomatopoeia sounds like "boom" "bam" or "crack." Always just write the name of the object or body part doing the striking, e.g. "fist!" "brick!" "forehead!"

"How do I cruise at the gay sauna?" Asks Hien.

In a darkly lit purple and pink-hued flashback, Hien and his friend snuggle in a steam-filled room wearing nothing but towels over their lower regions.

"Can I... touch your penis?" Asks Hien tenderly to the chubby Asian man with a short beard and blond-dyed soft, short hair that leans into his embrace.

"Huh!" The friend starts in amused surprise. "No one's ever asked me in that way before!"

Back to the present, Hien disolves into a panicked sketch resembling the figure from Munch's painting, The Scream, while he, himself, wails, "And I was like... are there OTHER ways to initiate that??? I have no game!!! It doesn't make sense to my brain not to be straight-forward!!!"

"Haha!" Shane laughs good-naturedly. "There's nothing wrong with being earnest!"

"Please!" A chibi-fied Hien drops to his knee with intense determination, like a medieval knight waiting to receive his quest. "Teach me the subtle and mystifying ways of the gay sauna!!!"

Holding his chin between his forefinger and thumb, Shane thoughtfully answers, "I can't cover everything, but I do definitely have some tips you can start out with!"

Title: Spontaneous Desire and Responsive Desire

Erika gestures at a stick figure diagram as she explains, "*spontaneous desire* is the most commonly recognized model in our culture, when the desire to have sex just sorta manifests itself outta no where."

In the diagram we see the stick figure walking along, whistling to themself. Suddenly, a lightning bolt labeled "DESIRE" strikes them with a mighty "ka-BOOM!". "ME WANT SEX!" the stick figure announces to the world.

Narration: But it turns out, there is ALSO *responsive desire*.

A new stick figure rushes to our first stick figure, greeting them with a "Hey baby!". "Our original stick figure replies, "I missed you!"

Narration: Which is when folks only want sex *after* consensually sexy things are already happening, and then their mind and body turns on IN RESPONSE TO that sexy context.

The floating jewels are roughly the size of microwaves and are labeled. UNI TOPAZ is an amber color with round bauble-shapes across its surface. The purple one is labeled UNI AMETHYST and sports a pattern of repeating diamond grooves across it. The UNI DIAMOND is a frosty white-blue with a tight, tiny pattern of raised diamonds. The green UNI EMERALD is decorated with concentric raised straight dashes framing its center.

Now normal-size, DCS holds an amber-colored Topaz sleeve between his fingers, explaining with stars in his eyes, "It's a gem-themed toy line that's meant for anyone's bits!"

Looking skeptical, the guy offers, "These look good but designers often forget about trans folks..."

"Yeah, I've been there." DCS responds. "But, I still wanted to see if they worked for me!"

Sex censorship has always been rooted in patriarchal "protection" of children and women (whom they consider children). Imagine telling a room full of colleagues — fellow legislators! reporters! — that they must be protected from anodyne discussions of sex in a book meant for kids 14 and up.

"These are books that are so disgusting, so filthy, so dirty, so vulgar, so pornographic that for the ladies here, I wouldn't even open it and show you," Patrick said at the presser. "I didn't show the female senators last session .... We passed the bill, but I did it without."
His primary example was "Let's Talk About It," a 2021 sex education graphic novel by married couple Erika Moen and Matthew Nolan. The book's publisher, Penguin Random House, says the book is for readers aged 14 and older.
