I say this because my main reason for wanting to drop RPG Maker isn't because it's technically inferior (it's not), but because I'd much rather draw and animate characters by hand instead of having to work within its graphical limitations. I want to do things like Paper Mario 64 and TTYD.

I think that my main purpose in game design is to make people feel like they're playing with an interactive drawing. I might lean in on Plaine Star's manga inspirations for 2, visually simplifying the color palette for everything except for key visuals to grayscale and monochrome.

I had a dream last night that Microsoft updated Paint on every Windows system to apply an artificially animated wobble effect on pictures after you save them, even if you copy-pasted still images and saved them as .bmps, and was so offended that I woke up.

The original code. The game runs a random calculator between 1 and the chosen number twice, then adds 1, so an encounter rate of 100 can wind up still triggering a battle in 3 steps.
