Saturday morning, let's go. I hope. Maybe. This week has been BRUTAL and I am still recovering, but hoping I feel up to go check out the new Warhammer paints demos in a bit. However THIS new Bishop Briggs song is an absolute anthem that might hopefully get me up and out. ❤️ #TarisWeekendBangers

Artists! Quote with your workspace. My hobby workspace is also just my general computer desk - so I recently invested in the monitor stands (easy to slip keyboard under) and a trolly cart so I could keep things easy and neat between various demands on my workspace.

Finished the Wraithlord I started over the weekend! Set out simply to use the axe from the avatar kit, and ended up having a bit more fun with it. Final result is almost a Wraithseer vibe. 🌞 #warhammer #40k #aeldari #eldar #warhammercommunity #nerdlings

Despite being a video game dev since 1995, it wasn't a video game that flipped that switch in my head - it was the Dungeons and Dragons red box Basic set. I wanted to be a table top game designer - a 30+ year career in video games was an accident that started as a summer contract QA job at Sega. 🙃

Impressed. 20 year old me didn't know if she would survive some nights, wasn't sure she *wanted* to survive some nights. But she lived. And while there have been many harrowing trials since then, I have at least as often THRIVED, beyond any secret wish or imagination of ways she had then.

FUUUCK this studio and this game. Same lead also posted video of himself on Twitter showing off the beds they set up in a meeting room and joked(?) about watching porn together. The same studio has also used the R-slur in official comms. I was interested in this game just 12 hours ago... #gamedev

A miniature battlefield showing a small force of imperial guard moving though some ruins supported by the infamous psyker Jeph.

A miniature battlefield with some high elves preparing to defend their home from a rampaging Chaos horde.

A bright blue bunker surrounded by pink alien soldiers on a green field

A siege tower crammed with orcs rumbles past an elven obelisk onwards towards it's date with the elven fortress in the background.

Masamune Shirow seems mostly known for his art, especially the fan service, but... Appleseed (and Ghost in the Shell) is among the top tier of cyberpunk fiction. Masamune Shirow stands with Gibson and Sterling as masters of the genre. Ghost in the Shell is great but DO NOT SLEEP on Appleseed!

LOOK AT THEM! LOOK! You can get these and more via linktr.ee/thekawna and www.kawnaminis.com/product-page...!

An absolutely colorful and delightful set of miniatures depicting cats, who are also pirates. And ghosts. And merfolk. They're good cats, brent.

A ghost kitty with a sword and a pirate kitty captain with a HELLA beard

The 4.5 minis I bum-rushed this week. 2 alley cats! 2 purrgles/mer-cats! 1 ghostie!!!

The minis on the table looking FUNKY FRESH!

This is so true. Back in 1998, our QA team ran a beta tester program with players from all over the world. There was a fisherman in the program that started all his correspondence with "Hej". It was seemed such an odd affectation to us. We started greeting each other around the office this way...

"Why didn't they just add _____?" Is never simple in gamedev. Everyone's shit is touching everyone else's. Adding something small affects 3 probably overloaded downstream teams or breaks a carefully balanced thing. Also if you a player think it, someone on the team already asked and was told no.

For me, it was world building that was DYNAMIC. Late 80s, there was nothing like it - a game setting timeline that was regularly moving forward, making it feel like a living world! It completely blew my mind when @michaelastackpole.bsky.social's Warrior trilogy kicked off the 4th Succession War!
