When he was younger our son learnt the benefits of peanut butter on one slice and chocolate spread on the other. Put the two together for 'Snickers toast'. He's back at uni now and still has it as a rare weekend treat.

How do you know? They may 'look' able bodied but aren't. You don't know their medical history so don't know if they're disabled or not. You can't know if they're wearing a prosthetic, post-op, have a condition that limits their mobility, or has cancer. Stop judging people whose limits you don't know

You know that some people can only walk so far right? Say someone with a heart defect can walk 10m but not 100m. We all see others referenced from our own life experiences. If you're healthy you see someone who isn't, but has no obvious illness, and judge them. See invisible illness, and ableism.

Not all heroes wear capes (flame retardant, of course). It's astounding what smoke detectors are capable of these days. Links to home automation for linked sirens, house lights, phone notifications, self diagnostics, thermometer & contaminant count for automating early triggers. Incredible stuff.

Aye, for a few days but a few years being housebound it kind of takes the shine off it a bit. One driver takes his eyes off the road and you're bouncing off bonnets and it's lockdown forever. On the plus side of the smoke detectors pick up any smoke they all go ape-shit together and whack every light in the house to 100% and a 6000K cold white. There's phone notifications in case we're away from home. I'll see to sockets later.

I've had chronic insomnia since I was a kid but it's really stepped up today. If I can I'll try to get up by 15.30 Monday - Saturdays. Today it's 06.25 and I can't get back over. This is going to fuck me over for the rest of the week. If I crash and sleep through your calls/texts I'll apologise now.

I've heard chalk rubbed over holes in plaster fills them in. Just go back and forward over the hole until you can't see it. After that just paint over it. I've no idea if it works or how effective it is but that's the rumour.

Any site that can't be read with a basic html-reader browser from 1999 is overcomplicated. Zero plugins, works with no cookies, zero plugins, dark mode colour scheme, as basic as possible. Great for underpowered old systems while using a black background with white text to be more up to date.

Watch out for STD being a Standard Trunk Dialling code and not the obvious. It's just the prefix area code like 0161, 0171, 0191 etc 0191xxxxxxx. Look at your local takeaway. If you ask what a dialling code is you're going to be confused as fuck if someone asks what's your phone's STD.

Good point, I expect they'd not use it. I can't remember seeing one on the site when I was geocaching although my old GPS showed it. Suspect it was more the 7 segment display more than anything else. Minutes and seconds could only have 2 digits though.

Newcastle's branch had a small protest outside over this 20+ years ago. I pointed out the only tax they paid was by employees wages. I remember setting my phone logo to Vodafuct for a while. You'd be surprised how many friends I ended up texting that one though to.

Let sign language be your first. It has the benefit of also being in English. A third is gesturally obvious (telephone, listen etc), a third is based on other signs (mm for mother, ff for father), and the last third you just have to learn. It obviously helps deaf people and looks great on a CV too.

I got a bollocking for letting customers swear at me. If they swear directed at the company, have at it but not the C word. If they swore at me personally they'd get the official 'warn the customer, if they do it again, cut the call'. I'd swear too in similar circumstances to a lot of them.

I'm half-British and half-Thai. A random right-winger verbally racially abused me in the street for no reason at all. That same man was in my A&E ward a couple of days later due to a cardiac arrest. I was the doctor who saved him. There's a moral in that story somewhere.

I agree, but back in the 90's you couldn't even send texts cross-network. If you changed networks then you lost your number. They introduced number porting and people still used their new number to alert everyone to the change. Makes much more sense to say "I've changed to..."
