HarperCollins has dropped the backlist of children's author David Walliams, The Bookseller understands, bringing its relationship with the author to an end.

HarperCollins would not comment when asked by The Bookseller, but confirmed it was accurate.

The unusual development comes nine months after the publisher dropped the author, over allegations of "inappropriate behaviour".

This followed Kate Elton's succession to CEO. At the time, HarperCollins said: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish any new titles by David Walliams. The author is aware of this decision.

"HarperCollins takes employee wellbeing extremely seriously and has processes in place for reporting and investigating concerns. To respect the privacy of individuals we do not comment on internal matters."

Following the publisher's action, a spokesperson for Walliams told the BBC he had "never been informed of any allegations raised against him" by his publisher, adding: "He was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions. David strongly denies that he has behaved inappropriately and is taking legal advice."

While HarperCollins stock will still be in bookshops, and e-book and audio versions available online, these will gradually be phased out. It is not known if the rights have reverted, and if another publisher will pick up the work.

The Bookseller has contacted Walliams' agent for comment.

Walliams is the fourth-biggest author - in both volume and value - since accurate records began with 26.6 million copies for £154.7m sold through NielsenIQ BookScan's Total Consumer Market (TCM). Since HarperCollins dropped the author at the tail end of 2025, he has shifted 141,000 units for £936,000 via the TCM. He has been the ninth most-loaned author in UK libraries this year through NielsenIQ's LibScan.

Gave me a Nitecore Tiny3 and a Lego Back To The Future DeLorean for our anniversary. I finished the build shortly after 01.00 so I'll be hurting tomorrow, but bloody hell I've had a lot of fun building it. Even I must concede in a torch 47mm long, 3 colour temperature & 600 lumens is ridiculous.

I wish they'd take mine off! Disability humour is often very dry and very dark. There's also a big 'No, *you* can't say that' factor when able bodied people say "You can't say that". I'm a cripple, I am medically crippled. I can say it, you can't. This is my favourite disability humour.

The right to beat arms is only slightly less ludicrous as the right to arm bears. 2nf amendment should have a clause that you're only allowed guns from the time the amendment was made. Give everyone guns. Give nobody bullets.

15 years ago, 8/7/2011, a Space Shuttle blasted off for the last time. They changed space flight completely with their cargo bay doors and easier landings and crew recovery. As a kid I remember thinking how much cooler they looked compared to the Apollo capsules. I wish they'd made new ones.

This must be investigated. I think I need one for the 4-5 times a year I need a pencil. Currently using this. Very handy but mostly just like the colour. It fluoresces. It sings to my inner 8 year old. Photos under normal light and with UV.

You're right, on most keyboards they're not. If you're sat at a PC it's not a problem. CTRL & Enter should be the default shortcut to send. If there's a Send button you can easily tap that's always on the screen they'd be a real hindrance. Sending anything by hitting Enter only should be outlawed.

Is it just me or does that ramp (23 seconds into the video) lead straight to two steps? It questions why bother having a ramp at all? Am I overlooking a glaring disability use case or is it a serious accessibility fail? Surely a Flex Step would've been the better choice?

If I say yes or long tap the pill icon it stops nagging me, texts my wife and writes the date & time to a file my GP & Pain Clinic can access (with my 10 minute heart rate). All I do is pick times to toggle when should be nagged or not. That's just meds.

I have heated mats. Bedroom, bathroom, living room (when I'm able to get downstairs) and another at my in-laws. Then there's 'electric slippers'. Keeping my leg warm is a necessity for exactly the same reason. Cold = pain. Lots of it.

My heart rate is currently at 98. Since midnight it's ranged between 77 and 110. I've been lying in bed for hours. I f'kin hate my body. Yes I'm #disabled what gave it away?
