I think D&D5E should bring back randomly determined tiefling features from 2E, but populate the list entirely with features associated with half-demon characters from contemporary popular media. By a strict reading of the relevant tables ten percent of all tieflings have butt wings.

The least amount of abstraction your #ttrpg can have is having the players actually doing the thing the fiction is asking to determine success. Next time your characters need food, go hunting with the fellas. Then if you catch food you can continue the game as if your characters also succeeded.

Was trying to find a concise definition of "chrome" in wargaming and was able to find this one at @armchairdragoons.bsky.social which seems helpful:

Chrome: wargaming slang for aspects of a game that provide atmosphere or understanding specific to the conflict encompassed by the game. For example, a game recreating the Battle of Gettysburg might have special rules to cover Pickett’s Charge or the 20th Maine Regiment’s defense of Little Round Top, making that game feel and play differently from other infantry combat games, or even other American Civil War games.
