That is a totally reasonable stance. I love discussing the pros and cons of media, but because published critique is not a discussion, it's very easy to assume it is truth. The publication (really the platform) creates a sense of authority which I don't believe in.

There's nuance to qualitative experiences, but it's just so much more important that you were genuinely interested in something than what other people think of it.

Watch a bad movie, play a bad game. It's okay to entertain yourself suboptimally when the stakes are so low and there is so so so much content to consume. But it's also okay to say "this was not for me" and put something down early. Some people will agree and some won't. Make your own decisions.

Okay but maybe don't fully trust critics period unless a) you know them well or b) they know you well The ideal review or suggestion is geared specifically toward you and your tastes, not the critic's. It's helpful to get others' perspectives but personal taste is huge.

First two are a good time, 2 has notably better QoL. Chain of Memories is actually pretty interesting on GBA, wouldn't recommend the remake. Otherwise you'll need to become a fan.
