Sorry to my coworkers who are just going to be greeted with "I DID IT" all day instead of "Hi" 😅

Brenna ✨ @foreverbren.bsky.social · 05/09/2025

After 5 years I have solved a work mystery that involved many emails, a trip to the UK, and lots of eBay scouting. I'm so happy I could cry

Unfortunately I do think Google Lens is one of the most useful inventions we've made. Love being able to point at a cable and go "magic camera, identify!"

SAA 2025 - I am here, masked, and in a funky print dress! Say hi! Also my presentation is at 1:15 this afternoon and it'd be cool to see some familiar faces 😊

Very important announcement: it appears the first Spirit Halloween stores are opening TODAY 🎃💀👻

I've said this before, but bless the hobbyists who tear down old tech to refurbish them and then puts the video of it on YouTube. Digital archivists everywhere bow down to you 🙏🏻

There's still a few disks I'm puzzling out, but it's getting the majority at the moment! 🦦 I have both a TEAC FD-235HG and HF, but so far I've only tested the HF with success. Haven't tried any 5.25" drives yet, but I'm happy to let you know what I try!

Hitting the trifecta today: meetings in every major video conferencing platform (Teams, Zoom, WebEx) 🏆

It's been 5 years (more, but since everyone did it) and I still wave at the end of every Zoom/Teams call 😅

THANK YOU!! This is so helpful 🤗

Does anyone know what it's called when you see "word : word :: word : word" (normally about similes I think)? Searching this has been reallly difficult surprisingly and I know it has to have a proper name out there.

Brenna ✨ @foreverbren.bsky.social · 09/06/2025

Interesting - lots of files and versions to keep track of! I forsee an overhaul of how we do things in my future.

010

Brenna ✨ @foreverbren.bsky.social · 07/06/2025

We normally restrict too, but this may be a special case. That's cool you have people who can/are willing to do that work!

000

Brenna ✨ @foreverbren.bsky.social · 06/06/2025

Thanks! And enjoy your weekend! 😊

010

Brenna ✨ @foreverbren.bsky.social · 06/06/2025

Was there a specific tool you used? Yeah, from what I've looked into so far, it's a very manual process. And of course! We're also thinking about how/where to describe the changed file in the finding aid.

100

Brenna ✨ @foreverbren.bsky.social · 06/06/2025

Oh wow! I'll bring it to the archivists and see what they think of that plan - they may be for it if it's a small enough amount 😅

Digital archives people - do you do redactions on your files, or do you fully restrict the files? Any tips on redaction tools if so? Also, do you note that the file has been redacted in your finding aids/description? #digitalArchives #digiPres

Brenna ✨ @foreverbren.bsky.social · 05/06/2025

We normally restrict the whole file, but questioning if this is the best way to keep going or if we should switch paths

We like to say in Archives theory classes that Archives and records are how society holds government accountable, but that is NOT why the concept of either was invented. Proceed accordingly and watch for changes to Archives access/FOIA slowdowns.
